Villefranche Shore Excursion

This Villefranche shore trip explores Nice and the medieval village of Eze. Your driver-guide takes you to Nice where you can see the most famous beach in the Riviera. You visit the flower market, located in the old town, plus the Russian Orthodox Cathedral. You also enjoy stunning views while visiting the hilltop village of Eze.

After meeting your driver-guide you drive to Nice. Once you are there you drive down La Promenade des Anglais, the famous palm tree lined street that parallels the most famous beach in the Riviera. You enjoy a stop to visit the old town of Nice and walk through the beautiful flower market (closed Mondays when a flea market takes place).

Next is a stop at the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, which dates back to 1912. It was built here because the Russian nobility frequently took their holidays in the Riviera. It is the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in Western Europe and today it is recognized as a National Monument of France.

Later you enjoy a stop in Eze, a typical French medieval village made up of narrow lanes and stone buildings. Eze clings to the cliffs over 1000 feet above the sea. You can walk to the top of the city's hill where a garden setting view point overlooks the sea. Take time to peak into the boutiques or enjoy an ice cream with a million dollar view. Visiting Eze requires the ability to walk uphill. If you cannot do the walk, you can enjoy the scents of Provence at the nearby Fragonard perfume factory.

At the end of your tour the driver-guide can bring you back to the pier in Villefranche. Villefranche itself is charming so you might consider strolling through the town before taking your tender back to the ship.
