Touring from Istanbul
Istanbul is the only city in the world that spans two continents — Europe and Asia, divided by the Bosphorus strait. Cruise ships dock at Galataport, a modern underground terminal in the Karaköy neighbourhood on the European side, just steps from the historic Galata Tower. From here, the Sultanahmet district and its concentration of iconic landmarks is about ten minutes by private vehicle or a short tram ride away. Your licensed English-speaking guide and private driver meet you directly at the terminal.
A typical Istanbul port day covers the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace, the Basilica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar — all within walking distance of each other in the Old City. With a longer port call or an overnight stay, your guide can add a private Bosphorus cruise past Ottoman waterfront palaces and the Rumeli Fortress, a visit to the Spice Bazaar at Eminönü, or a crossing to the Asian side for the colourful Kadıköy market. Istanbul is also a major turnaround port, and we offer private transfers between Istanbul Airport and Galataport, as well as pre- and post-cruise city tours.
