Touring from Piraeus & Athens
Piraeus is the largest cruise port in the eastern Mediterranean and the gateway to Athens. The port sits about 20 minutes southwest of the city centre, and your private guide and driver will meet you directly at the ship. Most guests head straight for the Acropolis and the ancient Agora, then explore the Plaka neighbourhood below — Athens' oldest quarter, filled with tavernas, street markets and Byzantine churches. The new Acropolis Museum, opened in 2009, houses the original Parthenon sculptures and is worth at least an hour on its own.
Beyond central Athens, a full port day opens up several outstanding day trips. Cape Sounion, about 70 kilometers southeast, is home to the clifftop Temple of Poseidon with sweeping views across the Aegean. Ancient Corinth and its canal are roughly an hour west. For guests with longer port calls or pre- and post-cruise stays, Delphi, Epidaurus and Mycenae are all reachable as full-day excursions. Your guide holds a licensed credential issued by the Greek Ministry of Tourism — required by law at all archaeological sites in Greece.
