Arrecife is centrally located on the eastern coast of Lanzarote island - the name comes from the Spanish word for reef, referring to the rocky reefs along the coast. Cruise ships call at one of two ports: Los Marmoles, about 6 miles from the center of town, or La Boca, much closer at about half a mile from town. If you plan to spend time in town independently, note that most shops and restaurants close between 1 and 5 pm for siesta.
