Palermo Shore Excursion - This full day tour visits the famous archeological zone known as the Valley of the Temples. If ancient Greek ruins are not normally of interest to you, this site might change your mind. The ruins located here are considered the most impressive and intact of all Greek ruins.
After meeting your driver and licensed guide at the pier in Palermo you depart for Agrigento, located on the southern coast of Sicily. Near the medieval city of Agrigento are the ruined temples which rise
from the plain that is dotted with almond, pine and eucalyptus trees. Upon arrival you have about 2.5 hours to explore one of the most important archeological sites in the world, which is also included on the UNESCO list of protected heritage sites. You will marvel at large temples, the most impressive is the Doric Temple of Concordia which is amazingly intact. Other temples on the site were dedicated to Hera (Juno) Lacinia, Concordia, Heracles (Hercules), Olympian Zeus (Jupiter), Castor and Pollux (Dioscuri) and Hephaistos (Vulcan) and Asklepius (Eusculapius).
After your exploration of the Valley of the Temples you enjoy free time for lunch in the nearby medieval town of Agrigento. Later this afternoon you return to Palermo.
