Palma Cathedral & Bellver Castle Shore Excursion from Palma de Mallorca

This 4-hour private tour from your cruise ship covers two of Palma's most recognizable landmarks: the Cathedral of Santa Maria, known locally as La Seu, and Bellver Castle.

Your guide takes you first to the old town, where La Seu rises above the harbor. King Jaume I ordered the cathedral built in 1230, and construction continued for centuries, with the building largely completed by 1601. Its Gothic nave is one of the tallest in Europe, and the rose window above the main altar is among the largest in any Gothic cathedral. You have time to step inside and take in the scale of the space before continuing on.

From the cathedral, you drive up to Bellver Castle, set on a wooded hill above the city. Built in 1309 for King James II of Mallorca, it is one of the only circular castles in Spain. The name comes from the Catalan "bell veure," meaning "beautiful view," and from the castle walls you get a wide outlook over Palma, the bay, and the mountains behind the city. The castle later served as a military prison starting in 1717, and today its round courtyard and towers are open to explore.

Your guide shares the history behind both sites as you go, and there is free time built into the day to explore at your own pace before returning to the ship.

Do Palma de Mallorca tours include a Back-to-Ship Guarantee?

We back every Palma de Mallorca tour with our Back-to-Ship Guarantee. If a delay caused by our tour operator keeps you from returning to the ship on time, we'll arrange and cover your transportation to catch up with the ship at its next port of call. To qualify, your tour needs to be scheduled to return at least 1.5 hours before the ship's departure, and you'll need to be back at the vehicle for every agreed meeting time during the day.

How much deposit is required to book a Palma de Mallorca tour?

To hold a Palma de Mallorca booking, we collect a $50 deposit per tour. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your tour date. If your plans change, that deposit isn't refundable, but it stays on your account as credit toward any tour for up to 3 years. Larger groups, custom itineraries, or tours involving flights or overnight stays may carry a bigger deposit and their own terms, which we'll spell out at booking.

What is the cancellation policy for Palma de Mallorca tours?

You're refunded -- minus a $50 admin fee -- for Palma de Mallorca cancellations made 15+ days out. Inside 14 days of the tour date, cancellations become non-refundable. One exception: if your ship simply doesn't call at Palma de Mallorca because of weather, mechanical issues, or political unrest, you'll get a full refund less the $50 fee. All cancellation requests need to be submitted in writing by email.

Where do we meet our driver or guide in Palma de Mallorca?

Cruise Ship: Once you disembark at Palma de Mallorca, head to the terminal's main public exit. If there's a terminal building, walk through the arrivals area to the public pickup zone outside -- cruise staff can point you the right way. No terminal building means your driver will already be waiting dockside as you disembark. Don't see your contact right away? Stay near your exit point and call the local dispatch number from your confirmation. Hotel: Your driver or guide will be waiting either just outside the main entrance or inside the lobby, sign in hand with your group's name. Airport: Once you've collected your luggage and cleared customs, head into the arrivals hall -- your driver or guide will be there holding a sign with your group name.

Entrance fees are included wherever it's noted on the Palma de Mallorca tour page. A few attractions require timed skip-the-line tickets, which turn non-refundable as soon as they're bought -- we'll let you know about any of these at booking.
