This 4.5-hour private tour takes you from the Palma cruise port across the island to Porto Cristo, about 40 miles (65km) away on Mallorca's eastern coast, home to the Cuevas del Drach, or Caves of the Dragon.
The caves were first mentioned in written records as far back as 1338, but it wasn't until centuries later that they were properly explored and mapped. In 1896, French speleologist Edouard-Alfred Martel led an expedition into the caves and charted the underground lake now named Lake Martel in his honor, one of the largest underground lakes in the world. The full cave system runs more than a mile long, with chambers reaching over 80 feet high in places.
Inside, you walk through a series of illuminated chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites before reaching Lake Martel itself, where you board a boat for a short crossing. Musicians perform live classical music from boats on the water, with the sound carrying through the cave's natural acoustics, an experience the caves have offered visitors for close to a century.
After the caves, your tour includes a stop at a pearl workshop that has operated on the island since the late 1890s, where you can see how the pearls are made and browse the showroom before heading back to the ship.
