TOUR DESCRIPTION

Antibes, Nhttps://www.privateshoretrips.com/cannes-tour-and-wine-tasting-p/fcann-02.htmice & St Paul de Vence Shore Excursion from Cannes

This Cannes shore trip visits three of the most exciting spots on the French Riviera. Your driver-guide takes you to Antibes, known for its yacht harbor and Provencal market, Nice, known for its beach and flower market, and Saint Paul de Vence, known for its art galleries and medieval walls. A drive through central Cannes is also included.

After meeting your driver-guide at the pier in Cannes, you start toward Antibes along the Croisette Boulevard, lined with five star hotels, designer boutiques and the Cannes Film Festival Palace that gives Cannes its "Hollywood" atmosphere. Your first stop is Cap d'Antibes, considered the most exclusive stretch of the Cote d'Azur, where you can stroll the 16th century sea ramparts and walk past the private yachts moored in the harbor. Above the old town sits the Chateau Grimaldi, a former bishop's residence and later a Grimaldi family stronghold. In 1946 Pablo Picasso was given studio space inside its walls, and when he left that November he donated 23 paintings and 44 drawings to the city. In 1966, the castle reopened as the Picasso Museum, the first museum in the world dedicated entirely to the artist.

From Antibes you continue along the coast into Nice, part of the Kingdom of Sardinia until an 1860 treaty and plebiscite transferred the city, along with the region of Savoy, to France. You drive La Promenade des Anglais, the palm tree lined street that parallels the Riviera's famous beach, and have free time in the old town to walk through the flower market (closed Mondays, when a flea market takes place instead).

Your final stop is the hilltop town of Saint Paul de Vence. The town's kilometer long ramparts date to the 1540s, built on the order of King Francis I after the armies of Emperor Charles V occupied and besieged the town twice in the 1520s and 1530s; the fortifications were among the first bastioned walls in France designed by a French military architect. Inside the walls, Saint Paul de Vence has long been known for its resident artists, and you can walk its medieval streets and through the narrow main street to browse its many art galleries and boutiques. If you are interested in modern art, consider a stop at the Maeght Foundation Gallery.

Please note
  • During the Grand Prix Events there is a 50% supplement and it is not possible to visit Monaco or Monte Carlo from June 4-7, 2026. Please contact us if you are interested in a tour during this period.

The shore trip was great! It was so much better to have a private tour, as opposed to the bus tours that the cruise line contracted with. We saw more sites than would have been possible any other way, our driver was knowledgable, and an expert driver, and she (Sabrina) got us back to the ship on time! She even had time to drop my older son off early so he could watch the USA-China basketball game on TV in his cabin. If I find myself doing another cruise in Europe, I will contact your company to set up the shore trips.

We took a private tour of Monaco and Eze during a cruise that stopped in Cannes. Our driver, Pierre, was amazing. He was so courteous, friendly, and helpful. He made us feel like we were traveling with a good friend. He picked us up right on time, offered very interesting information on the ride and had some great suggestions on where to go. A very memorable trip!! I feel lucky to have found Private Shore Trips. I
