TOUR DESCRIPTION

Monaco & Monte Carlo Shore Excursion from Cannes - 6 Hours

This Cannes shore trip visits the most popular coastal towns on the French Riviera including Monaco and Monte Carlo, plus your choice to stop in Nice or Eze. Your driver-guide takes you to the Palace and Cathedral in Monaco, the Grand Prix route and Casino of Monte Carlo, plus panoramic photo stops.

After meeting your driver-guide at the pier in Cannes, you start the coastal drive to Nice by driving along the famous Croisette Boulevard in Cannes. This street is lined with 5 Stars hotels, designer boutiques and the Cannes Film Festival Palace. Leaving Cannes you pass through the charming town of Antibes and then finally into Nice.

Once you are in Nice you drive down La Promenade des Anglais, the famous palm tree lined street that parallels the most famous beach in the Riviera. You have the choice to visit the old town of Nice to walk through the beautiful flower market (closed Mondays when flea market takes place), or continue on to the medieval village of Eze, known for its stunning views and quaint charm.

Leaving Nice you follow the Lower Corniche road, which hugs the dramatic rocky coast line, until you reach the Principality of Monaco. You have free time to explore the old town of Monaco where you can see the guards outside the Royal Palace plus stroll through the Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried. Please note that no bare shoulders or shorts (above the knee) are allowed in the Cathedral.

Next you drive on the route of the legendary Grand Prix of Monte-Carlo Formula 1 circuit. This race takes place on the streets of Monte Carlo and your driver-guide will point out some of the more famous hairpin turns of the course.

Your final stop of the day is in the modern city of Monte Carlo, home to the rich and famous. High rise condominiums fill your vision and the streets buzz with luxury cars. Get your camera ready as one can hardly believe the luxury of this unique place!

The famous Casino of Monte Carlo sits across from a lovely park which is also lined with designer boutiques, luxury hotels and more. Parked in front of the casino there are invariably some of the most expensive cars in the world such as Bentley, Porsche, Ferrari. Aston Martin and Lamborghini.

At the end of this popular Cannes shore excursion, you'll return to the port along the Upper Corniche, the road which runs along the cliff tops high above the sea, so you can once again enjoy the stunning beauty that a French Riviera tour offers. During the tour your driver-guide will also stop at one or two panoramic view points for stunning views over the French Riviera.

Notes About the Casino of Monte Carlo - The Casino of Monte Carlo is open to tourists for viewing from 9 AM until 12 noon. During this period the entry fee is 17 Euro per person (cash only) and no gaming is open. Then from 2 PM onwards the casino is open to individuals (not tour groups) and formal dress code is enforced. During this period there is no entry fee to access slots, craps and Black Jack tables. Further gaming rooms require 17 Euro per person entry fee (cash only). Everyone must be 18 years or older and have their passport available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I have to choose between Nice and Eze on this tour instead of seeing both?
Cannes sits further from Eze than Monaco or Villefranche do, so fitting both Nice and Eze into a 6-hour day from this specific port isn't realistic without feeling rushed. Instead, you choose one. If seeing both matters more than the shorter day, our 8-hour Best of French Riviera tour from Cannes covers Nice, Monaco, and Eze together.
What's the route like leaving Cannes?
You start along the Croisette, Cannes' famous boulevard lined with five-star hotels and the Film Festival Palace, then pass through Antibes before reaching Nice (or continuing on toward Eze, depending on your choice).
Do we get inside the Monaco Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried?
Yes, that's part of the Monaco stop, along with the Royal Palace guards and grounds. Just note the Cathedral has a dress code, no bare shoulders or shorts above the knee, so plan your outfit accordingly.
What will we actually see of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit?
Your driver-guide drives the actual streets used in the Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 circuit and points out some of the famous hairpin turns, so even without a race happening, you get a real feel for the course.
Is this private, and can we adjust our Nice-or-Eze choice on the day?
It's a private tour, and while the itinerary is generally set to one or the other, talk to your driver-guide at the start of the day if your preference has changed since booking; they'll do their best to accommodate.

We took a private tour of Monaco and Eze during a cruise that stopped in Cannes. Our driver, Pierre, was amazing. He was so courteous, friendly, and helpful. He made us feel like we were traveling with a good friend. He picked us up right on time, offered very interesting information on the ride and had some great suggestions on where to go. A very memorable trip!! I feel lucky to have found Private Shore Trips. I
