Flexible French Riviera Shore Excursion from Monaco Monte Carlo - 6 Hours

This Monte Carlo day trip includes a private van and driver-guide. When you meet your driver, you discuss your interests and they help plan the day's stops accordingly. With 6 hours you can typically visit 3 towns, or 2 if you would like a relaxed lunch or time at the beach.

This is a good shore trip for guests who want maximum flexibility. Some travelers prefer to spend most of the day in one place, while others try to see as much as possible.

Among the most requested stops:

Antibes and Cap d'Antibes, about an hour from Monte Carlo, considered the most exclusive stretch of the Cote d'Azur, with a private yacht harbor, 17th century ramparts, and the Picasso Museum in the Chateau Grimaldi.

Cannes, about 1 hour 15 minutes away, known for La Croisette, its palm lined boulevard past the Grandes Dames hotels and the red carpeted Palace of Festivals.

Eze, just 15 minutes from Monte Carlo, a pedestrian only medieval village perched over 1,000 feet above the sea, with a hilltop garden offering sweeping views (leaving the van at the base and walking uphill is required, so this stop is not recommended for guests with limited mobility; the nearby Fragonard perfume factory is a relaxed alternative).

Monaco's Old Town, about 5 minutes away, home to the Royal Palace and the Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried (no bare shoulders or shorts above the knee inside). Monte Carlo itself, where you drive the Grand Prix circuit and stop at the Casino, open to visitors from 10 AM to 1 PM for a guided cultural visit around 20 euros per adult.

Nice, about 30 minutes away, home to the daily flower market (closed Mondays for a flea market) and museums including the Matisse and Chagall. Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, about 30 minutes away, home to the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and Villa Kerylos.

Saint Paul de Vence, a hilltop Provencal art town with medieval walls and Chagall's grave. Villefranche-sur-Mer, a small fishing harbor with a public beach and a fresh fish lunch by the water.

Your driver-guide will also make recommendations based on your interests, but with a flexible itinerary we cannot guarantee every stop you want can fit into the time chosen; traffic and weather affect driving time.

  • During the Grand Prix Events there is a 50% supplement and it is not possible to visit Monaco or Monte Carlo from June 4-7, 2026. Please contact us if you are interested in a tour during this period.
  • About the Casino of Monte Carlo - The Casino of Monte Carlo is open to tourists for viewing from 9 AM until 12 noon. During this period the entry fee is 17 Euro per person (cash only) and no gaming is open. Then from 2 PM onwards the casino is open to individuals (not tour groups) and formal dress code is enforced. During this period there is no entry fee to access slots, craps and Black Jack tables. Further gaming rooms require 17 Euro per person entry fee (cash only). Everyone must be 18 years or older and have their passport available.

We had always wanted to go to Monte Carlo and drive around the Monaco Grand Prix Circuit so contacted Steven Hurley to see if we could arrange. The trip was perfect and we did see some other sights that our guide suggested as well as a lovely stop for refreshments. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgable. I highly recommend booking through Steven in the afternoon. None of the standard tours offered the itinerary in the order that we wanted. Steven at Private Shore Trips arranged it so that we made all the stops within the timeframe we wanted. I would highly recommend them.

This was the best tour that we had on our cruise. There was a total of 6 couples and Greg took care of all of us with another driver too. He was understandable, courteous, and very knowledgeable of Monaco, Monte Carlo, Nice, & Eze. He was able to cover all of these sights within our timeline with the ship. The Norwegian Ship did not offer this excursion. Greg and his other driver stopped for many photo shoots. I would highly recommend
