TOUR DESCRIPTION

Nice, Monaco & Eze Shore Excursion from Monaco Monte Carlo - 8 Hours

This full day Monte Carlo shore trip includes a private van and driver-guide. You explore the Best of the French Riviera including the most popular spots such as Nice and Monaco's Old Towns, modern Monte Carlo and the medeival hilltop village of Eze. There is also an optional stop at St Paul de Vence.

After meeting your driver-guide at the pier in Monte Carlo, you follow the Upper Corniche until you reach Nice. The road runs along the cliff tops high above the sea, so you can enjoy the stunning beauty that a French Riviera tour offers.

Once you are in Nice you drive down La Promenade des Anglais, the famous palm tree lined street that parallels the most famous beach in the Riviera. You enjoy some free time in the old town of Nice to walk through the beautiful flower market (closed Mondays when flea market takes place).

Leaving Nice you follow the Lower Corniche road, which hugs the dramatic rocky coast line, until you reach Eze. This pedestrian only French medieval village is made up of narrow lanes and stone buildings. Eze clings to the cliffs over 1000 feet above the sea. You can walk to the top of the city's hill where a garden setting view point overlooks the sea. Take time to peak into the boutiques or enjoy an ice cream with a million dollar view. There is some strenuous uphill walking needed but if you are not up to walking, you can enjoy the scents of Provence at the adjacent Fragonard perfume factory.

Later today you visit the Principality of Monaco where you have free time to explore the old town of Monaco to see the Royal Palace, plus stroll through the Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried. Please note that no bare shoulders or shorts (above the knee) are allowed in the Cathedral.

Next you drive on the route of the legendary Grand Prix of Monte-Carlo Formula 1 circuit. This race takes place on the streets of Monte Carlo and your driver-guide will point out some of the more famous hairpin turns of the course.

Your final stop of the day is in the modern city of Monte Carlo, home to the rich and famous. High rise condominiums fill your vision and the streets buzz with luxury cars. Get your camera ready as one can hardly believe the luxury of this unique place!

The famous Casino of Monte Carlo sits across from a lovely park which is also lined with designer boutiques, luxury hotels and more. Parked in front of the casino there are invariably some of the most expensive cars in the world such as Bentley, Porsche, Ferrari. Aston Martin and Lamborghini.

At the end of this popular Monte Carlo shore excursion, you'll return to the port.

During the tour your driver-guide will also stop at one or two panoramic view points for stunning views over the French Riviera.

You have the option to include a visit to St Paul de Vence, a popular hilltop Provencal town. This is possible if you are willing to only have a short lunch break.

Notes About the Casino of Monte Carlo - The Casino of Monte Carlo is open to tourists for viewing from 9 AM until 12 noon. During this period the entry fee is 17 Euro per person (cash only) and no gaming is open. Then from 2 PM onwards the casino is open to individuals (not tour groups) and formal dress code is enforced. During this period there is no entry fee to access slots, craps and Black Jack tables. Further gaming rooms require 17 Euro per person entry fee (cash only). Everyone must be 18 years or older and have their passport available.

Mobility - Folding wheelchair OK, some sites may be inaccessible (advance notice required)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is St Paul de Vence guaranteed, or is it really optional?
It's optional and depends on timing and your interest. Ask your driver-guide about adding a stop at St Paul de Vence, a hilltop medieval village known for its art galleries, in place of extra free time elsewhere in the day.
How strenuous is the walk up to Eze?
There's some real uphill walking; Eze clings to a cliff over 1,000 feet above the sea, and you climb from the village base to reach the viewpoint gardens and boutiques at the top. If that's not for you, the adjacent Fragonard perfume factory is a relaxed alternative.
What's the route difference between this and the Villefranche version of the same tour?
This one departs from Monte Carlo and takes the Upper Corniche to Nice first, running high along the cliff tops, before doubling back on the Lower Corniche to Eze. The Villefranche version instead drives west to Nice directly, since Villefranche sits closer to Nice than Monte Carlo does.
Do we see the actual Monaco Grand Prix circuit?
Yes, your driver-guide drives the real Formula 1 circuit streets and points out some of the famous hairpin turns used in the race.
Is this a private tour with a Back-to-Ship Guarantee?
Yes to both; it's private throughout with your own driver-guide, and you're covered by our Back-to-Ship Guarantee for your return to Monte Carlo.

We had always wanted to go to Monte Carlo and drive around the Monaco Grand Prix Circuit so contacted Steven Hurley to see if we could arrange. The trip was perfect and we did see some other sights that our guide suggested as well as a lovely stop for refreshments. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgable. I highly recommend booking through Steven in the afternoon. None of the standard tours offered the itinerary in the order that we wanted. Steven at Private Shore Trips arranged it so that we made all the stops within the timeframe we wanted. I would highly recommend them.

This was the best tour that we had on our cruise. There was a total of 6 couples and Greg took care of all of us with another driver too. He was understandable, courteous, and very knowledgeable of Monaco, Monte Carlo, Nice, & Eze. He was able to cover all of these sights within our timeline with the ship. The Norwegian Ship did not offer this excursion. Greg and his other driver stopped for many photo shoots. I would highly recommend

It was fabulous! We had wanted the one shuttle van to fit 12 people and that one was already booked due to our late request. Instead we had 2 smaller vans and in the end that was better for us because the smaller vans could get to places the larger one could not! Everyone in my party agreed that this day was the best day of all our excursions. Our two tour guides, Yannick and Pasquale were excellent! I would highly recommend your company and would use you again ourselves. Thank you!

We want to thank you for the great job you did on planning and organizing our trip to Europe. The eight of us had a great time as well as being pleasantly surprised at how well the trip was organized, how gracious our drivers and guides were how pertinent your suggestions were. We will be having friends go in the spring and will be referring them to you.
