TOUR DESCRIPTION

Nice, Monaco & Eze Shore Excursion from Monaco Monte Carlo - 6 Hours

This Monte Carlo shore trip visits the most popular coastal towns on the French Riviera including Nice, Monafor a full-day private tourco, Monte Carlo and Eze. Your driver-guide takes you to Nice's Old Town, the Palace and Cathedral in Monaco, the Grand Prix route and Casino of Monte Carlo, and the stunning medeival hilltop village of Eze.

After meeting your driver-guide at the pier in Monte Carlo, you drive along the upper Corniche to Nice. Once you are in Nice you drive down La Promenade des Anglais, the famous palm tree lined street that parallels the most famous beach in the Riviera. You enjoy some free time in the old town of Nice to walk through the beautiful flower market (closed Mondays when flea market takes place).

Leaving Nice you follow the Lower Corniche road, which hugs the dramatic rocky coast line until you reach the hilltop medieval village of Eze. This typical French pedestrian-only medieval village is made up of tiny stone lanes and buildings. The village clings to the cliffs over 1000 feet above the sea.

There is time for you to walk to the top of the town's hill where a succulent garden offers amazing views of the sea far below. You can take some time to peak into the boutiques or enjoy an ice cream with a million dollar view.

Please note that you must leave the van at the base of the village and walk up a step hill into the town. This is not recommended for anyone with limited mobility. If you are not up to walking, you can however enjoy the scents of Provence at the nearby Fragonard perfume factory.

Later you visit the Principality of Monaco where you have free time to explore the old town of Monaco where you can see the Royal Palace plus stroll through the Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried. Please note that no bare shoulders or shorts (above the knee) are allowed in the Cathedral.

Next you drive on the route of the legendary Grand Prix of Monte-Carlo Formula 1 circuit. This race takes place on the streets of Monte Carlo and your driver-guide will point out some of the more famous hairpin turns of the course.

Your final stop of the day is in the modern city of Monte Carlo, home to the rich and famous. High rise condominiums fill your vision and the streets buzz with luxury cars. Get your camera ready as one can hardly believe the luxury of this unique place!

The famous Casino of Monte Carlo sits across from a lovely park which is also lined with designer boutiques, luxury hotels and more. Parked in front of the casino there are invariably some of the most expensive cars in the world such as Bentley, Porsche, Ferrari. Aston Martin and Lamborghini.

At the end of this popular Monte Carlo shore excursion, you'll return to the port of Monte Carlo.

During the tour your driver-guide will also stop at one or two panoramic view points for stunning views over the French Riviera.

Notes About the Casino of Monte Carlo - The Casino of Monte Carlo is open to tourists for viewing from 9 AM until 12 noon. During this period the entry fee is 17 Euro per person (cash only) and no gaming is open. Then from 2 PM onwards the casino is open to individuals (not tour groups) and formal dress code is enforced. During this period there is no entry fee to access slots, craps and Black Jack tables. Further gaming rooms require 17 Euro per person entry fee (cash only). Everyone must be 18 years or older and have their passport available.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can this tour fit Nice, Monaco, Monte Carlo, and Eze into just 6 hours when departing from Monte Carlo?
Monte Carlo's location makes this realistic in a way it wouldn't be from a port further away: Eze is only about 15 minutes from Monte Carlo, so all four stops fit comfortably into a 6-hour day without feeling like a race against the clock.
What's the Upper Corniche, and is it worth the drive?
It's one of three coastal roads linking Monaco to Nice, running high along the cliffs, and it's part of what makes this tour scenic rather than just efficient. You get sweeping Mediterranean views on the way to Nice before switching to the Lower Corniche, which hugs the coastline more closely, on the way to Eze.
Is Eze wheelchair or stroller accessible?
No, and it's worth knowing before you book: the vehicle has to stop at the base of the village, and reaching Eze's hilltop core means walking up a steep hill, so it's not recommended for anyone with limited mobility. If you're not up for the climb, the nearby Fragonard perfume factory is a relaxed alternative your guide can suggest.
Do we go inside the Monaco Cathedral?
Yes, where Princess Grace is buried, along with time to see the Royal Palace guards. Just note the dress code (no bare shoulders or shorts above the knee) before you go.
Is this a private tour with our own driver-guide the whole day?
Yes, private throughout, with your own English-speaking driver-guide providing commentary as you go.

We had always wanted to go to Monte Carlo and drive around the Monaco Grand Prix Circuit so contacted Steven Hurley to see if we could arrange. The trip was perfect and we did see some other sights that our guide suggested as well as a lovely stop for refreshments. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgable. I highly recommend booking through Steven in the afternoon. None of the standard tours offered the itinerary in the order that we wanted. Steven at Private Shore Trips arranged it so that we made all the stops within the timeframe we wanted. I would highly recommend them.

This was the best tour that we had on our cruise. There was a total of 6 couples and Greg took care of all of us with another driver too. He was understandable, courteous, and very knowledgeable of Monaco, Monte Carlo, Nice, & Eze. He was able to cover all of these sights within our timeline with the ship. The Norwegian Ship did not offer this excursion. Greg and his other driver stopped for many photo shoots. I would highly recommend

It was fabulous! We had wanted the one shuttle van to fit 12 people and that one was already booked due to our late request. Instead we had 2 smaller vans and in the end that was better for us because the smaller vans could get to places the larger one could not! Everyone in my party agreed that this day was the best day of all our excursions. Our two tour guides, Yannick and Pasquale were excellent! I would highly recommend your company and would use you again ourselves. Thank you!

We want to thank you for the great job you did on planning and organizing our trip to Europe. The eight of us had a great time as well as being pleasantly surprised at how well the trip was organized, how gracious our drivers and guides were how pertinent your suggestions were. We will be having friends go in the spring and will be referring them to you.
