TOUR DESCRIPTION

Nice, Monaco & Eze Shore Excursion from Monaco Monte Carlo - 6 Hours

This Monte Carlo shore trip visits the most popular coastal towns on the French Riviera, including Nice, Monaco, Monte Carlo, and Eze. Your driver-guide takes you to Nice's Old Town, the Palace and Cathedral in Monaco, the Grand Prix route and Casino of Monte Carlo, and the medieval hilltop village of Eze.

After meeting your driver-guide at the pier in Monte Carlo, you drive along the Upper Corniche to Nice. Once you are in Nice, you drive down La Promenade des Anglais, the famous palm tree lined street that parallels the most famous beach on the Riviera. You have free time in the old town of Nice to walk through the flower market, closed Mondays when a flea market takes its place instead.

Leaving Nice, you follow the Lower Corniche road, which hugs the dramatic rocky coastline, until you reach the hilltop medieval village of Eze. This pedestrian only French village is made up of tiny stone lanes and buildings, clinging to the cliffs over 1,000 feet above the sea. There is time to walk to the top of the town's hill, where a succulent garden offers views of the sea far below, and to browse the boutiques or enjoy an ice cream with a million dollar view. The van must be left at the base of the village for a walk up a steep hill into town; if that is not for you, the nearby Fragonard perfume factory is a relaxed alternative.

Later you visit the Principality of Monaco, where you have free time to explore the Old Town and see the Royal Palace, then stroll through the Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried. No bare shoulders or shorts above the knee are allowed inside the Cathedral. Next you drive the route of the legendary Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 circuit, and your driver-guide points out some of the course's famous hairpin turns.

Your final stop is the modern city of Monte Carlo, home to the rich and famous, where high rise condominiums fill your view and the streets buzz with luxury cars. The Casino of Monte Carlo sits across from a park lined with designer boutiques and luxury hotels, and you are likely to see some of the world's most expensive cars parked outside, from Bentleys to Ferraris. At the end of this popular excursion, you return to the port of Monte Carlo. Along the way your driver-guide also stops at one or two panoramic viewpoints over the French Riviera.

The Casino of Monte Carlo is open to visitors for a guided cultural visit from 10 AM until 1 PM; this heritage visit currently costs around 20 euros per adult (cash or card, subject to change) and does not include gaming. From 2 PM onward, the casino is open for gaming to individuals rather than tour groups, with a formal dress code enforced. Everyone must be 18 or older and have a passport available.

Please note
  • During the Grand Prix Events there is a 50% supplement and it is not possible to visit Monaco or Monte Carlo from June 4-7, 2026. Please contact us if you are interested in a tour during this period.
  • About the Casino of Monte Carlo - The Casino of Monte Carlo is open to tourists for viewing from 10 AM until 12 noon. During this period the entry fee is 20 Euro per person and no gaming is open. From 2 PM onwards the casino is open to individuals (not tour groups) and a formal dress code is enforced. During this period an entry ticket is required to access the gaming areas, including the slots, craps and Black Jack tables. You must show your passport to buy the ticket, and 10 Euro of the ticket price is returned to use at the slot machines or at the bar. Everyone must be 18 years or older and have their passport available.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can this tour fit Nice, Monaco, Monte Carlo, and Eze into just 6 hours when departing from Monte Carlo?
Monte Carlo's location makes this realistic in a way it wouldn't be from a port further away: Eze is only about 15 minutes from Monte Carlo, so all four stops fit comfortably into a 6-hour day without feeling like a race against the clock.
What's the Upper Corniche, and is it worth the drive?
It's one of three coastal roads linking Monaco to Nice, running high along the cliffs, and it's part of what makes this tour scenic rather than just efficient. You get sweeping Mediterranean views on the way to Nice before switching to the Lower Corniche, which hugs the coastline more closely, on the way to Eze.
Is Eze wheelchair or stroller accessible?
No, and it's worth knowing before you book: the vehicle has to stop at the base of the village, and reaching Eze's hilltop core means walking up a steep hill, so it's not recommended for anyone with limited mobility. If you're not up for the climb, the nearby Fragonard perfume factory is a relaxed alternative your guide can suggest.
Do we go inside the Monaco Cathedral?
Yes, where Princess Grace is buried, along with time to see the Royal Palace guards. Just note the dress code (no bare shoulders or shorts above the knee) before you go.
Is this a private tour with our own driver-guide the whole day?
Yes, private throughout, with your own English-speaking driver-guide providing commentary as you go.

We had always wanted to go to Monte Carlo and drive around the Monaco Grand Prix Circuit so contacted Steven Hurley to see if we could arrange. The trip was perfect and we did see some other sights that our guide suggested as well as a lovely stop for refreshments. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgable. I highly recommend booking through Steven in the afternoon. None of the standard tours offered the itinerary in the order that we wanted. Steven at Private Shore Trips arranged it so that we made all the stops within the timeframe we wanted. I would highly recommend them.

This was the best tour that we had on our cruise. There was a total of 6 couples and Greg took care of all of us with another driver too. He was understandable, courteous, and very knowledgeable of Monaco, Monte Carlo, Nice, & Eze. He was able to cover all of these sights within our timeline with the ship. The Norwegian Ship did not offer this excursion. Greg and his other driver stopped for many photo shoots. I would highly recommend
