Kotor Shore Excursion
This Kotor walking tour is perfect if you only have a short time visiting from a cruise ship. The tour provides an excellent orientation to Kotor's old town including visits to St. Tryphon Cathedral and the Maritime Museum. Many clients use this tour to get acquainted with Kotor and its history and then enjoy free time for lunch and exploring before walking back to their ship.
Your licensed tour guide will meet you at the pier and then you walk a short distance to the entrance of the old town. You will enjoy walking through the maze of Kotor's medieval center, its bustling market and among beautiful Renaissance buildings. The well preserved fortified walls of Kotor are nearly 3 miles long and it is considered one of the world's historic values. This afternoon you could consider walking on the wall uphill towards the castle.
Your walking tour includes a visit to the Cathedral of St. Tryphon which was built in 1166 on top of the remains of a former 9th century temple. Your guide will show you the remains of 14th century frescoes and the most important, the valuable treasury with both local and Venetian golden works dating from the 14th to the 20th centuries.
Next you visit the Maritime Museum to explore a unique collection representing maritime history of the Gulf of Kotor. The impressive collection includes historical models and pictures of old ships and sailboats, plus many ship parts and old instruments related to sailing.
Your guide can walk back to the pier with you after the tour is complete or you can choose to stay and enjoy the old town on your own.
