This round trip tour from Dover visits Canterbury Cathedral and the gardens at Goodnestone Park, returning to the ship the same day.
After meeting your guide, you depart for Canterbury, about 17 miles (27km) from Dover. Canterbury blends city, coast and countryside, with a long history as a center of English heritage and architecture.
On arrival, you visit Canterbury Cathedral. Pilgrims and visitors have made their way here since the Middle Ages, and it remains one of the most visited places in England. The Cathedral continues the ancient tradition of Benedictine hospitality, and during your visit you take in the atmosphere of one of the great holy sites of Christendom.
After the Cathedral, you have free time in Canterbury for lunch (meal not included) and shopping.
In the afternoon, you visit the Walled Garden at Goodnestone Park, about 8 miles (13km) from Canterbury. The gardens are divided into three enclosures: an old-fashioned rose garden with hardy geraniums and perennials, a summer garden with borders for summer flowering, and a kitchen garden mixing fruit and vegetable beds. The adjoining Woodland Garden has developed over many years, with winding paths through trees, shrubs, terraces and box hedges, opening onto views over the village cricket grounds.
At the end of the tour, you return to the pier in Dover.
