This full day Toulon shore excursion to Cassis starts with a cable car ride to the top of Mont Faron, offering panoramic views of Toulon Bay. You can also choose to have the vehicle drive up Mont Faron instead of taking the cable car. Then you enjoy a private drive along the coast to the fishing village of Cassis, where you can take a boat ride to the famous Calanques.
Your driver guide will meet you at the pier in Toulon and depart for the cable car ride to the top of Mont Faron, at 1,900 feet. Opened in 1959, the Toulon cable car is unique on the Mediterranean coast. You will enjoy dramatic views of the sea and surrounding area and visit the memorial to the 1944 Allied landings in Provence. The cable car operates daily, though the memorial is closed on Mondays.
When you return from the mountain top, you drive along the coast to Cassis. Cassis is the type of unspoiled fishing village that first lured the jet set to the Riviera years ago. Surrounded by white limestone cliffs, umbrella pines, and vineyards descending directly into the sea, Cassis is friendly and unpretentious. The port is a curve of pastel houses and colorful wooden fishing boats in front of the outdoor terraces of seafood restaurants. There are few designer shops in the narrow streets, and no oversized yachts to gawk at. Instead you are likely to see fishermen, locals, and international tourists who avoid the crowded beaches of St. Tropez.

Cassis sits at the eastern edge of Calanques National Park, established in 2012 as the first national park on the French mainland since 1979.
