TOUR DESCRIPTION

Southampton, England - This tour starts in Southampton. You visit the prehistoric monument known as Stonehenge and then enjoy a tour of Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. At the end of the tour you are dropped off at your choice of London Heathrow Airport or your hotel in London.

After meeting your guide at the port, you immediately depart for the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge. This prehistoric monument is one of the most important in the world, dating back an astonishing 5,000 years. The monument stands on a small mound in a vast plain in the countryside, not far from Salisbury. You can't help feeling excitement and perhaps a little fear about this mysterious site whose exact purpose is unknown. As you walk around the stones and learn about their mystery you will be surprised at their large size.

Next you drive to Windsor where you have a short break to enjoy lunch (meal not included).

Next you visit Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. This castle has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years. The Queen spends most of her private weekends at Windsor and has certain periods throughout the year when she has extended stays. In addition to being her home, the Queen uses the castle for ceremonial and State functions.

St Georges Chapel is located within the Castle Precincts and is the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter, the oldest order of chivalry in the world. Dating back to the 14th century, today the Order consists of The Queen, The Prince of Wales and 24 Knight Companions.

A typical tour at Windsor Castle includes the State Apartments, the Drawings Gallery, Queen Marys Doll House and the St George Chapel. However, Windsor Castle is a working royal palace and therefore security and opening arrangements may be subject to change with little or no notice.

Again, Private Shore Trips did not disappoint. Been using them since 2009. Steven is so great to work with - and his team of tour guides all over Europe have been amazing. This time we used them in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast. David in London, Ricky in Edinburgh, Ricky and Graeme in Glasgow and Paul in Belfast. All were personable, friendly, very knowledgeable, and flexible.

Thanks for asking. They were good. The first driver was really nice and helpful and a good guy. The other driver was fine but not as nice. He was fine though and both were on time and the vehicles were comfortable as well. Very happy we chose you as both worked out great.

We want to thank you for the great job you did on planning and organizing our trip to Europe. The eight of us had a great time as well as being pleasantly surprised at how well the trip was organized, how gracious our drivers and guides were how pertinent your suggestions were. We will be having friends go in the spring and will be referring them to you.

We did enjoy ourselves and I would highly recommend your tour company to anyone. The driver was really nice and very efficient getting us to all of the places that we wanted to see in the short time that we were in London. The guide was quite knowledgeable and friendly.

Our trip was wonderful! Our pick up at the airport, two tours, and transportation to the pier all went well. I would definitely use your company again for future travel needs.
