Southampton, England - This private tour is round trip from Southampton. In Oxford you enjoy a walking tour of the University City, including Christ Church the largest college in the university, with it's famous Cathedral.

After meeting your guide at the pier, you depart Southampton and travel to Oxford, known as The City of Dreaming Spires. This beautiful university town has been the home to scholars and royals for over 800 years. You will enjoy the spacious lawns and parks set among interesting spires and the Thames and Cherwell Rivers.

Your guide will lead you on a walk through the historic city center where you will learn the history of Oxford University as well as enjoy architecture and traditions which have been passed down in its most famous buildings and institutions.

Next you enjoy some free time for lunch (meal not included) before visiting the Christ Church and its famous Cathedral.

The University of Oxford is made up of 36 separate colleges including All Souls College, Lincoln College, Magdalen College, Trinity College and the largest, Christ Church College. Christ Church College was used as a double for Hogwarts School in the Harry Potter movies so you may recognize some buildings.

The Cathedral at Christ Church is the Anglican Diocese of Oxford. The highlights include the world famous Cathedral Choir and the scholarly collection of books and art. The shrine and tomb of St. Frideswide, Oxford's patron saint, is also located inside the Cathedral.

Later this afternoon you return to the pier in Southampton.
