Sete Shore Excursion

This full day private Sete tour visits the fairytale medieval city of Carcassonne, the most popular site in the Languedoc Region. After visiting Carcassonne you explore the region more with visits to the Castles of Lastours and the beautiful village of Minerve.

After meeting your private driver-guide at the Sete port, you immediately start the 1.5 hour drive to Carcassonne. You will enjoy scenic views of the Languedoc Region including the Canal du Midi, the Alaric Mountain range and rolling hills filled with sunflowers and more.

As you approach Carcassonne you will be impressed by its large ramparts. The medeival walled portion of Carcassonne is called La Cite and upon arrival you will enjoy a short walking tour and then some free time.

You will walk through the main city gate known as la porte Narbonnaise. A must do is a visit to the Cathedral and the Basilica of Saint-Nazaire, known for its stained glass.

After you walking tour you have some free time to enjoy this romantic destination. You can explore for photos, make a short visit to the castle interior, enjoy a wine tasting and have lunch (meal not included).

In the afternoon, this private Sete excursion will take you to the four Castles of Lastours. The castles are named Cabaret, Tour Regine, Surdespine and Quertineux and are located below the medieval village of Cabaret, nestled deep in a valley. At the panoramic Belvedere view point you will have a chance to take photos as your guide explains the history of this site built by the Cathers as far back as the 11th century.

Your last stop today is the beautiful village of Minerve which also gives its name to the Minervois wine region. Minerve is surrounded by deep canyons in the Languedoc. You have time to stroll through the village where you will come to understand why it is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in all of France. You enjoy some free time so you can shop for local arts & crafts, taste the delicious Minervois Wines or just explore the village.

At the end of this private Sete shore trip you will be brought back to your cruise ship in Sete.
