After meeting your guide at the cruise pier in Rotterdam you travel by high speed water taxi for a visit to Delfshaven. This neighborhood is located on the right bank of Nieuwe Maas River and it grew over time as an outskirt of the historic port of Delft but it became a part of Rotterdam in the late 1800s. The area was spared from WWII bombings and therefore it retains an old world charm of cobblestones and small canals. This is also where the Pilgrim Fathers departed for their journey to the USA. Next you have a chance to relax on a tram journey into to the center of modern Rotterdam. This area was badly destroyed in the War and was rebuilt as a progressive metropolitan city.
Located in a wonderful part of the city center you will see the Cube Houses which skyrocketed Rotterdam into an internationally known city based on this unique architecture. You have the chance to enter a Cube House to get to imagine living in such an unusual structure. While you are in the area you also see the Market Hall, St. Laurens Church and the Old Harbor.
This tour ends in the city center where you can enjoy lunch and explore on your own. In this case you get back to the ship on your own with advice from your guide. or you can request the tour end back at the cruise pier.
