Your drop-off and pickup point is the Theater of Marcellus, an ancient open-air Roman theater at the edge of the Roman Forum, near the Victor Emmanuel Monument and the Capitoline Hill. This location puts you within walking distance of most of Rome's major sites. From here you can walk to the Roman Forum and Colosseum in approximately 15 minutes, reach the Pantheon and Piazza Navona in approximately 20 to 25 minutes, and access the Trevi Fountain in approximately 30 minutes on foot. The Vatican is approximately a 30-minute taxi ride.
You have 5 to 6 hours of free time to use as you choose -- visiting monuments, having a long lunch, browsing neighborhoods, shopping, or simply sitting in a piazza. Public transit and taxis are available throughout the city if you wish to cover more ground than is walkable. Entrance fees to all sites are paid independently.
At the pre-arranged meeting time, return to the Theater of Marcellus for your pickup. Punctuality is important as your driver will be waiting and the ship has a departure deadline.
