TOUR DESCRIPTION

Flexible Montenegro Shore Excursion from Kotor

This 8 hour shore trip is for those who want the most flexibility with their itinerary in Montenegro. Rather than following one of our set routes, you and your guide build the day around the destinations that interest you most: the old town of Kotor, the village of Perast and the island of Our Lady of the Rocks, the resort towns of Budva or St. Stefan, or the mountain drive up to Njegusi and Cetinje.

A fixed itinerary works well when you know exactly what you want to see, but it cannot adjust once the day is underway. The boat to Our Lady of the Rocks, for example, is a shared, non-private crossing, and on a busy cruise day the schedule can run behind or the small island can feel crowded during the ship's peak visiting hours. With a flexible itinerary, your guide can watch how the morning is developing and adjust in real time, for instance spending more time exploring Perast's waterfront palazzos on foot while the crowds at Our Lady of the Rocks thin out, or swapping the boat trip altogether for the mountain drive up to Njegusi and the Njegos Mausoleum if conditions favor clear views that day.

A sample flexible day might start with your guide meeting you at the pier and asking about your interests. If you mention you'd rather avoid a crowded boat landing, your guide might suggest starting with the drive up into the mountains above the bay to Njegusi, birthplace of the 19th century poet-prince Petar II Petrovic Njegos, and continuing to the nearby Cetinje Monastery, Montenegro's former capital. From there, depending on how the day is going and the weather at altitude, you can either continue up Mount Lovcen to the Njegos Mausoleum for the view over the entire Bay of Kotor, or head back down to the coast for an afternoon in Kotor's old town and Perast once the cruise-ship crowds have thinned.

Please note that this "Flexible Itinerary" includes a driver and a licensed guide who provides commentary while you are in the vehicle and also during your selected stops. Your guide can make recommendations based on your interests. It is important to understand that with a flexible itinerary, we cannot guarantee you can see everything you desire in the amount of time you have chosen. Traffic conditions and weather ultimately affect the driving time to the places you wish to visit. If you decide you want to visit the interior of any sites, then you are expected to pay the applicable entrance fees in local currency.

Are entrance fees included?
No. If you choose to visit the interior of any site, entrance fees are paid locally in Montenegro's currency.
What if we can't decide between the coast and the mountains?
Your guide can combine both if time allows, for example starting with Njegusi and Cetinje in the mountains and finishing along the coast in Kotor or Perast once cruise crowds have thinned.

Our trip was fabulous. Our flights were on time, the weather was great and the sites so amazing! Our tours and guides were excellent. I dont have their names handy but all were extremely knowledgeable and we loved their passion for their countries. Should we venture back to Europe we will definitely contact you again. I will surely recommend your company to anyone traveling in Europe.

Today was our last excursion booked through your company. The trips in Florence and Nice were both great, with good hosts. But by far the best guide was Tom today in Kotor. He is excellent and I cannot say enough good about his knowledge and demeanor. 5 stars for him. Thanks for all

We booked a few tours at last minute from our cruise ship as our Oceania shore excursions were pretty bad. We arranged our trip through Steven by email and Internet was spotty on the ship. He was quick to respond and was able to customize our trip for the day. We had 3 couples and Ynne was our guide. He was the best guide that we had had during our 12 day trip.
