This private tour can start in London or at Heathrow Airport and includes a visit to Salisbury before you transfer to Southampton, about 85 miles (137km) away. After meeting your guide, you depart for Salisbury, the historic market town that grew up around its cathedral after the hilltop settlement of Old Sarum relocated here in 1220.
On arrival you take a walking tour of the city, which developed with different streets dedicated to different trades, such as Fish Row, Butcher Row and Poultry Cross. Many timber-framed houses from that period still stand in the shadow of Salisbury Cathedral.
After free time for lunch (meal not included), you visit the cathedral itself. Built in just 38 years, from 1220 to 1258, Salisbury Cathedral is an example of early English Gothic architecture set within 8 acres of lawn and Britain's largest medieval close. Its Chapter House holds one of only four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta, widely regarded as the best preserved of the four. The cathedral also has Britain's tallest spire, at 404 feet, and houses Europe's oldest working clock, dating to 1386.
At the end of the visit, your driver takes you on to Southampton for your ship's departure.
