TOUR DESCRIPTION

Dubrovnik Old Town Shore Excursion

This 2.5 hour private tour is a compact introduction to Dubrovnik, the walled Adriatic city known as the Pearl of the Adriatic. Your licensed guide meets you at the pier and takes you first to a viewpoint for photos of the city and its fortified walls.

From there you drive to the Pile Gate, where a statue of the city's patron saint, St. Blaise, greets visitors. From here you explore the Old Town on foot along the Stradun, the city's main promenade, paved in marble and lined with shopfronts and cafes.

Your walking tour includes the Franciscan Monastery, built in the Romanesque-Gothic style and considered an architectural masterpiece. Inside, you visit its pharmacy, which has operated continuously since 1317 and is widely regarded as the oldest still-operating pharmacy in Europe.

You also visit Dubrovnik Cathedral and its Treasury. The current Baroque cathedral was built between 1671 and 1713 to replace an earlier Romanesque cathedral destroyed in the Great Earthquake of 1667. Its main altar holds a painting of the Assumption of the Virgin attributed to Titian, dating to around 1552. The Cathedral Treasury holds a collection of reliquaries, several of which are carried in procession through the city each year on the Feast of St. Blaise, February 3rd.

At the end of the tour, your guide returns you to the pier.

Jewish Heritage: if you would prefer to visit Dubrovnik's synagogue instead of the Cathedral, let us know at the time of booking so we can arrange it.

Mobility: a folding wheelchair can be accommodated, though some sites may be inaccessible. Please give advance notice if this applies to your group.

If this itinerary does not fit your plans, our Dubrovnik tours and Dubrovnik shore excursions can be customized. For larger groups, we can arrange a private tour using a mid-size bus or full-size coach. Contact us with any questions or for a custom quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Dubrovnik tours include a Back-to-Ship Guarantee?
Yes, and it's built into every Dubrovnik tour we run -- the Back-to-Ship Guarantee. If a delay caused by our tour operator keeps you from returning to the ship on time, we'll arrange and cover your transportation to catch up with the ship at its next port of call. To qualify, your tour needs to be scheduled to return at least 1.5 hours before the ship's departure, and you'll need to be back at the vehicle for every agreed meeting time during the day.
How much deposit is required to book a Dubrovnik tour?
Booking a Dubrovnik tour requires a $50 deposit up front. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your tour date. If your plans change, that deposit isn't refundable, but it stays on your account as credit toward any tour for up to 3 years. Larger groups, custom itineraries, or tours involving flights or overnight stays may carry a bigger deposit and their own terms, which we'll spell out at booking.
What is the cancellation policy for Dubrovnik tours?
As long as you cancel your Dubrovnik tour 15 days or more in advance, you get a refund minus $50. Inside 14 days of the tour date, cancellations become non-refundable. One exception: if your ship simply doesn't call at Dubrovnik because of weather, mechanical issues, or political unrest, you'll get a full refund less the $50 fee. All cancellation requests need to be submitted in writing by email.
Where do we meet our driver or guide in Dubrovnik?
Cruise Ship: When you get off the ship in Dubrovnik, look for the terminal's main public exit. If a terminal building is present, go through arrivals to the outdoor pickup area -- cruise staff will help direct you. If not, your driver will be waiting right on the dock. Can't find your contact? Stay near where you exited and call the local dispatch number on your confirmation. Hotel: Look for your driver or guide right outside the main entrance or in the lobby -- they'll be holding a sign with your group name. Airport: Once you've collected your luggage and cleared customs, head into the arrivals hall -- your driver or guide will be there holding a sign with your group name.
Are entrance fees included in Dubrovnik tours, and are they refundable?
You'll find entrance fees bundled in for Dubrovnik tours where the tour page states it. Keep in mind some venues require timed, skip-the-line tickets that become non-refundable the moment they're purchased. We'll flag any non-refundable entrance fees for you at booking.
Can we customize the itinerary on our Dubrovnik shore excursion?
That's the advantage of going private in Dubrovnik -- the day can adjust to you. Mention any must-see sight to your driver or guide at pickup, and they'll do their best to work it in. Traffic and time constraints can occasionally limit how much we can change, but your guide will always try to keep things personal.

I contacted Ken well in advance of the trip for a work group celebrating a big anniversary. The communication was amazing. The entire trip was flawless and the guides were professional, on time and so incredibly knowledgeable of the particular areas. Their English was perfect and we were all amazed at their level of knowledge. They were always ready to make recommendations for lunch and snacks as well as tips and tricks.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Thank you for contact me.  We all had a great time with your company.  We found your guides to be ontime and the vehicles were clean and perfect and the AC worked!  We did take a ship tour Palma and that was aweful - especially after being spoiled with private tours in Italy, Spain and France.  Our 17 day sailing went very smooth.   Ill write a nice review on trip advisor.  The guide in La Rochelle was the most wonderful lady.  She was a sommelier and she had us tasting the best wines.
