Porto Shore Excursion

This private Porto tour literally gives you a taste of Porto. You will visit the very popular Lello Bookstore with priority Skip the Line Tickets, followed by a city driving tour before a delicious fresh seafood lunch in a charming local fishing village. Before the tour is over you also visit a local port winery to learn about its production and enjoy a tasting.

After meeting your guide you depart for the Lello Bookstore. When you arrive you will be whisked into the priority entrance and avoid the long lines which most people have to wait in. This bookstore is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. The store opened in 1906 making it one of Portugal's oldest bookstores. You will be impressed by its curved wooden staircase, the stained glass windows and the overall architecture which combines neo-gothic and art nouveau designs. What attracts many people is that it is said to have inspired the creation of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series because the author was known to visit here.

Next you will enjoy a driving tour to see some of Porto's famous sites such as the Bolḥo Market, Santa Catarina shopping street, Cl̩rigos Church and Tower, Se Cathedral, So Bento Train Station and the Stock Exchange Palace.

For lunch you will drive to a local fishing village which neighbors Porto. You will enjoy the small town feel of the area. People enjoy sitting outdoors to take in a fresh seafood lunch which has been grilled just for you. An alternative is a fish and rice dish, similar to paella. The meal and drinks is always a hit with our guests and is included in the tour price.

After lunch, you will drive along the Douro River and over the famous Eiffel inspired Dom Luis Bridge until you reach Vila Nova de Gaia. While you are hear you will visit a famous port wine cellar for a tour and tasting. You will learn all about the production, harvesting and transporting of this unique drink. Of course the tour ends with a tasting and the chance to purchase some bottles if you wish.
