Olbia Shore Excursion - This private shore tour visits the Neolithic monuments located near the town of Arzachena. The megalithic buildings you will see have become the symbol of Sardinia and its distinctive ancient culture.
You also enjoy a brief stop in the resort town of Porto Cervo.
After meeting you guide at the pier in Olbia you drive to the town of Arzachena. It is here where your guide will show you the Nuraghe Albucciu and the Giant Tomb of Coddu Vecchiu". These nuraghes are the main type of ancient megalithic buildings found in Sardinia, likely developed during the Nuragic Age between 1900-730 BC. They are made of stones fixed in the ground in a circular plan. Many archaeologists believe that these buildings were used by the Nuragic people for the treatment of corpses. Dead bodies would have been left in the hot sun for a long period until all that remained was the skeletal system. The bones were then collected and placed in a box at the center of the circle as a sort of ritual ceremony. Many nuraghes complexes were also used for houses.
Nexr you drive along the Costa Smeralda, and enjoy a short stop in Porto Cervo, the most luxurious resort town in Italy. After visiting Porto Cervo you will return to Olbia driving on the panoramic road which travels along the sea front.
