Invergordon Shore Excursion - The highlight of this tour is a visit to the Dunrobin Castle, regarded as one of the "Jewels of the Scottish Highlands". You also enjoy free time in the town of Dornoch and a visit to the famous Dalmore Distillery.

Dunrobin Castle is one of Scotland's great houses and the largest in the Northern Highlands with 189 rooms. The castle is also one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited houses dating back to the early 1300s, home to the Earls and later, the Dukes of Sutherland. During WWI the castle was used as a naval hospital and then as boys' boarding school from 1965 until 1972.

The castle is perched on a high terrace above walled gardens rising above the North Sea like an illustration from a storybook. Its fairytale spires and turrets are sure to impress you. Your visit not only includes a tour of this stately castle but also the impressive gardens which are some of the most stunning in all of Scotland. The gardens were installed in 1850 and the palace at Versailles was the inspiration.

After visiting the castle you will drive to the nearby town of Dornoch. While you are here we suggest a visit to the beautiful Dornoch Cathedral which is the most northerly cathedral on the UK mainland. It is also noteworthy that Madonna chose this cathedral for the christening of her son in 2001. You also have enough time to enjoy lunch in a typical Scottish pub.

Later this afternoon you enjoy a stop at the Dalmore Distillery which has been producing single malt whiskey since 1839. To this day Dalmore whiskey receives exceptional reviews from experts and connoisseurs alike. You will receive a rare insight into the skill, expertise and crafting required to produce each precious drop of The Dalmore.

At the end of the tour you return to Invergordon.
