Ijmuiden Amsterdam Shore Excursion

This full day Amsterdam shore trip includes the highlights of Amsterdam followed by time in the countryside so you can experience the traditional culture and beauty of the Netherlands.

Your guide will meet you at the pier in Ijmuiden and you start the drive into Amsterdam. When you arrive you enjoy a short driving tour of the Amsterdam. Much of the cities charm, however, is found when you are on foot, so a walking tour is included. You will see sites such as the Beguines, the Flower Market, the Opera and Ballet Houses, the Skinny Bridge and the Red Light District.

Next you enjoy a canal cruise, which for many people (over 3 million each year) is the best way to see Amsterdam. You cruise past famous houses with their gables and glide under historic bridges as you hear about the Venice of the North. When your boat cruise is done, you will understand why Amsterdam truly is one of the most charming cities in the world.

After your canal cruise you have a short amount of time available so you can enjoy lunch (meal not included) before departing for the countryside.

This afternoon you see and experience some traditions of the Dutch people. You will drive along canals and dikes and see areas of land which has been reclaimed from the sea and now holds typical canal houses and windmills.

The stops this afternoon will be based on your interests but options include; sampling the local Gouda or Edam cheeses at a farm, visiting a typical fishing village to see old fishing boats and traditional clothing still worn by some residents, learning how traditional clogs are made, eating the local fried fish or a typical Dutch pancake!

Your guide is happy to show you their country and traditions and will arrange the itinerary to your interests. You driver will take you back to the pier in Ijmuiden at the end of the day.
