Dubrovnik Shore Excursion

The highlight of this Dubrovnik shore trip is the historical town of Ston, which has one of the world's longest defensive walls. While you are here you sample the local seafood and wine. As an added bonus, we've included a stop in the charming coastal village of Slano.

Your guide will meet you at the pier in Dubrovnik and as you leave the area you will have dramatic views over old Dubrovnik. You will stop in the small coastal village of Slano where you may opt to walk along the beach or enjoy a relaxing drink in a local caf̩e.

You'll continue to the town of Ston, located northwest of Dubrovnik in the southern Dalmatia region. During the time of the Dubrovnik Republic (from the 14th through the early 19th centuries) this town played an essential strategic role by providing salt. Its bounty mined from works developed during Roman times were worth a fortune. To provide security from attack, a three mile long defensive wall was built in the 14th century. You'll be amazed to see this, one of the longest defensive walls in the world perched on the rocky coastline and snaking its way into the hillsides. Protected by these city walls are homes, palaces, public buildings, churches, guard buildings, and the fountain of the Ston waterline dating from the late 1500's.

You'll enjoy a stop in Veliki Ston which allows you to visit the salt works and the local shops. After a guided walk of this delightful walled town you visit Mali Ston, well known as an oyster and mussel farm. Here you will enjoy a sampling of the local seafood and wine!

With a full stomach and smile on your face your Dubrovnik shore excursion ends back at the pier.
