This
private Cagliari tour includes the highlights of Cagliari plus a visit to Nora, the oldest town on Sardinia. While the town was founded in the 8th century BC, it is well known for its Roman antiquities, which you visit during the tour.
After meeting your guide you drive to Viale Buon Cammino for a photo stop overlooking the city of Cagliari. You will enjoy the amazing views including the Roman archaeological area with the sea as a backdrop.
Next you drive to the medieval old town, called Castello, where you enjoy a walking tour from the ancient Porta Cristina gate to the Bastione San Remy, located near Constitution Square. Walking through the 14th century quarter you will see many monuments and towers and then enjoy the famous view at the bastion fortification.
Next you drive to the famous Poetto beach which is located between the rock formation known as the Saddle of the Devil and the salt pools known as the Gulf of Angels. It is these pools which attract many birds including the popular pink flamingos.
Finally you end your Cagliari tour with a walk through La Marina District. This quarter is a multicultural place where ethnic traditions melt with local ones to create a diverse environment. You will see many shops, cultural crafts and typical restaurants. Free time is provided for you to have lunch (meal not included).
Following lunch you drive to the Phoenician and Roman archaeological city of Nora. Lying at the tip of a beautiful headland, Nora is an ideal place to visit in any season. The town, the oldest in Sardinia, was founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century B.C.. Today the archaeological area is almost entirely characterized by Roman remains, built on a pre-existing Punic settlement. The ancient city, also called "The sunken city" because the area slopes down to the sea, attracts thousands of visitors every year. Your tour allows you the chance to admire two Roman temples, four thermal buildings, many gorgeous mosaics and a Roman theater.
At the end of the
