This Budapest day trip follows the famous Danube Bend to the baroque village of Szentendre, about 13 miles (21km) north of the city, then continues on to a photo stop at Visegrad Citadel above the river.

After meeting your guide at your Budapest hotel or Danube river cruise ship, you drive to Szentendre. Your guide leads you through its narrow, cobblestoned streets, lined with small galleries, cafes, restaurants and museums. Included is a visit to a Ceramics Museum, where local artists' work is on display, along with a stop at the Marzipan Museum.

Before returning to Budapest you make a photo stop at Visegrad Citadel. The 13th century fortress sits on a hill above the Danube and once held the Hungarian crown jewels; it also hosted the 1335 Congress of Visegrad, a meeting between the kings of Hungary, Poland and Bohemia. King Matthias Corvinus later built an early Renaissance summer palace in the town below in the late 15th century. From the citadel walls you have some of the best views over the famous Danube Bend.
