TOUR DESCRIPTION

Warnemunde Shore Excursion

This private Berlin tour focuses on the history of Jewish Berlin. You can decide exactly where you want to go and at what pace or you trust your guide who is an expert and has a passion for Jewish Berlin's History.

The story of Jewish life and culture in Berlin is without a doubt one of the most interesting chapters of Berlin's history: fascinating and inspiring on the one hand, full of repressions, suffering and the horrors of the Holocaust on the other hand. Throughout centuries Jewish scholars, artists, intellectuals and businessmen have left indelible traces in the city's physical and cultural landscape.

Your driver will meet you at the pier and then you meet your guide in Berlin. The tour will start in the former Jewish quarter of Berlin, the old and new heart of the city's Jewish life and culture. You will discover the many hidden traces of former Jewish life in this quarter and then admire the beautifully renovated facade of the New Synagogue.

A visit to Jewish Berlin includes a somber walk through the Memorial of the murdered Jews of Europe, where one remembers the darkest period in German history. Deepen your insights into Third Reich history on the following trip through the former Nazi government quarter. With the Topography of Terror you will visit one of the most feared addresses of the Third Reich. Here was the former headquarter of the Gestapo and the SS. From here Nazis functionaries like Reinhard Heydrich, Ernst Kaltenbrunner and Adolf Eichmann organized the systematical murder of millions of European Jews.

An essential part of the tour is a visit to the Jewish Museum of Berlin. 2000 years of Jewish history and culture are on display here, but the most impressive part of the museum is without doubt Daniel Libeskinds outstanding symbolic architecture. Your guide will point out the highlights to you.

There are plenty of options for lunch, either kosher or halal, your guide knows the best places for every diet.

At the end of the day you will be taken back to the pier in Rostock / Warnemunde.

Mobility: Folding wheelchair OK, some sites may be inaccessible (advance notice required).

I have been meaning to get in touch and letting you know that all private tours were right on time even though after reconfirming from the hotel in Copenhagen my German phone never worked, so I was a bit concerned how it would work out but they were all there, were professional and helpful and with the three boys it was the best decision I made about the whole trip to have the private tours. I knew this cruise would not be the perfect itinerary for teen age boys but I think the guides we had made it work, adjusted the programs tour over the city rather than the city tour as it would have given the boys a thrill and me the kind of overview of the city one could not get from a car. I dont mean it complaining, it is more hindsight on my part. I would recommend Private tours to anyone with a small group, as the flexibility and advantage of passing all the long long line ups for all the larger groups and sneaking in ahead of them was worth alone the extra cost. On top of it the flexibility was just priceless for the boys. I have less good things to say about the cruise line, found the ship not well organized and not at all helpful for anyone not wanting their tours and giving the rest of us wrong information about landing procedures at least 12 the time. Well, I have learned a lot and even though I will never be a total cruise fan, the baltic itinerary is really very informative if one prepares oneself as there was little or no advanced information on the destination ports given to us from the ship itself. So, thanks for your helpful service, I would recommend booking private tours to anyone!! You are welcome to quote my recommendation if needed.

Returned from our Baltic Cruise last evening and wanted to send a warm THANK YOU to you for your efforts in arranging our two days of tours with Natalya in St. Petersburg and our lovely Katarina in Rostock, Germany. We will certainly call upon you again as we plan on cruising with my brother and his wife in Alaska next!

I wanted to let you know that all five of our shore excursions were fantastic! The guides and drivers were fabulous, and all exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed every minute, learned a lot, and are so grateful to Private Shore Trips for giving us such a memorable first trip to Europe!

The tours went well, the tour guides were excellent, very knowledgeable (most of them history professors moonlighting as tour guides during school breaks), and professional. Well done! The drivers were very cooperative and worked well with the tour guides. Good Team! Next year, I will be planning Dubai and Jordan. If you do these places, I will be in touch with you again. On behalf of my group, thank you. Monaco - The tour was fantastic. We really enjoyed our driverguide. We did a lot of tours during our trip and I must say this tour was one of the best. Ill be happy to recommend to my friends.
