After meeting your guide in Akureyri you start the journey towards Lake Myvatn. About half way there is a stop at the Godafoss waterfall which is one of the most stunning in all of Iceland. The name of the falls means, waterfall of the Gods, and your guide will explain the legend which brought this name. The falls are about 40 feet high and 100 feet wide. This waterfall is often referred to as the Beauty.
Next you drive back towards Akureyri via the Vikurskard mountain pass. You will enjoy views over Eyjafjordur and the town. Akureyri is Iceland’s second largest town outside of the capital area and is considered the heart of Northern Iceland.
