This six hour Antibes shore trip is for those who want the most flexibility with their French Riviera tour. When you meet your driver and guide you discuss your interests and the places you wish to visit. Your guide will help you maximize your time based on your interests and traffic conditions.
Because this is a flexible itinerary with no fixed stops, we do not purchase any entrance tickets and do not plan around paid interior visits. Instead, your guide's suggestions are built entirely around places you can enjoy from the outside or wander through for free, the medieval old towns, hilltop villages, markets, harbors and viewpoints that give you the real feel of the Riviera without spending your six hours waiting in line or touring a museum. If your group prefers walking through an authentic old town and stopping wherever looks interesting over a formal ticketed attraction, this tour is built for exactly that. If you do want to pay to enter a specific site along the way, that is always your choice and is handled directly with the venue in local currency, but it is not part of the plan by default.
Closest to the port, about 1 mile (1.6km) away, is Antibes' own old town, with its Provencal market, stone ramparts overlooking the sea, and the exterior of the Chateau Grimaldi. A little farther, about 3 miles (5km), is Cap d'Antibes, a wooded peninsula of coastal walking paths and grand villas, best explored along the free public Sentier du Littoral coastal trail. About 7 miles (11km) away is Cannes, where La Croisette promenade, the Palais des Festivals steps, and the old hillside quarter of Le Suquet are all free to walk. Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a walled hilltop village of cobbled lanes and art galleries, is about 10 miles (16km) away, and the perfume town of Grasse is a similar distance, where the Fragonard perfume house offers free guided factory tours most days. Nice is about 11 miles (18km) away, with its Old Town, flower market on the Cours Saleya, and the free public park atop Castle Hill overlooking the Promenade des Anglais. Farther along the coast, Eze's cliffside village is about 24 miles (39km) away, its steep stone streets free to explore even though its exotic garden charges admission. Monaco and Monte Carlo sit about 27 miles (43km) away, where the Prince's Palace courtyard and the daily 11:55am Changing of the Guard, the exterior of the Casino de Monte-Carlo, and Monaco Cathedral are all free to see from outside.
Because six hours is a shorter window than our full-day Riviera options, most guests do best choosing one main destination in depth plus a single nearby add-on rather than a long list of towns. Sample days include Antibes' old town paired with a walk along the Cap d'Antibes coastal path, since both sit within a few minutes of the port; Saint-Paul-de-Vence paired with the Fragonard tour in Grasse, since both are similar hilltop drives inland; or Nice's Old Town and flower market on its own, given the round trip alone takes over an hour. Monaco is possible in six hours but leaves less time to linger, so guests set on Monaco or Eze often prefer our 8 hour flexible option instead.
This option tends to suit groups who have already done a set city tour and want to wander an old town or village at their own pace, guests who find long museum visits tiring and would rather spend their time outdoors among real local life, and mixed-interest groups who want their guide's judgment on which combination of nearby free sites fits best. Your guide provides commentary throughout the drive and is also available to walk with you through any town or village and point out details you might otherwise miss.
Please understand that with a flexible itinerary we cannot guarantee you will see everything you have in mind. Traffic and weather affect driving times, and the plan should be treated as a starting point for discussion with your guide rather than a fixed schedule.
