This 4 hour private tour pairs Dubrovnik's best viewpoint with a walking tour of its Old Town. Your licensed guide meets you at the pier, and you begin with a round-trip ride on the Dubrovnik cable car, which climbs to the summit of Mount Srd, more than 1,300 feet above sea level, for panoramic views of the city walls, rooftops, the sea and the surrounding mountains.
Back down from the cable car, you drive to the Pile Gate, where a statue of the city's patron saint, St. Blaise, greets visitors, and continue on foot along the Stradun, the Old Town's main marble-paved promenade lined with shopfronts and cafes.
Your walking tour includes the Franciscan Monastery, built in the Romanesque-Gothic style, where you visit its pharmacy, operating continuously since 1317 and widely regarded as the oldest still-operating pharmacy in Europe. You also visit Dubrovnik Cathedral and its Treasury. The current Baroque cathedral was built between 1671 and 1713 to replace an earlier Romanesque cathedral destroyed in the Great Earthquake of 1667, and its main altar holds a painting of the Assumption of the Virgin attributed to Titian, dating to around 1552.
Before the tour ends, you have some free time to browse a shop or stop for ice cream.
Jewish Heritage: if you would prefer to visit Dubrovnik's synagogue instead of the Cathedral, let us know at the time of booking so we can arrange it.
Mobility: a folding wheelchair can be accommodated, though some sites may be inaccessible. Please give advance notice if this applies to your group.
If this itinerary does not fit your plans, our Dubrovnik shore excursions can be customized. For larger groups, we can arrange a private tour using a mid-size bus or full-size coach. Contact us with any questions or for a custom quote.
