This Naples shore trip visits one of the most beautiful islands in the world, Capri. You take a hydrofoil out to the island and then travel to the islands highest points for stunning views and enjoy the villages of Anacapri and Capri.
Your licensed guide will meet you at the pier in Naples and together you will walk to the hydrofoil harbor which is about 10 minutes away. Next you board a hydrofoil and enjoy the cruise to the island of Capri.
Please Note: It is suggested that you start this excursion at 8:30 AM for best timing with the hydrofoil.
When you arrive at the port in Capri you have a private minibus which will take you to the beautiful village of Anacapri. While you are here you can visit the San Michele Villa, a 19th century mansion with marble walkways and atriums built by the Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munthe. The villa is located on the foundation of an ancient Roman Ruin and includes many Roman statues.
Next you can take the chairlift 1900 feet up to the highest point on the island, called Monte Solaro. While you are here you enjoy what is considered one of the best panoramas in the world. You see the Bay of Naples, the cape of Sorrento and Mount Vesuvius looming in the distance.
Back in the village of Anacapri you see Miniature Capri. This ceramics reproduction of the island was made by a local artist. The work include 11 windows into the important scenes of life on the island. In the Church of San Michele you will admire the wonderful carpet of ceramic tiles which portray Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Later you drive to the town of Capri where you have free time to enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants that fill the medieval streets. After lunch you have additional free time to enjoy the fantastic views, public parks, fancy villas or do some shopping. You will find typical souvenirs and upscale boutiques fitting for such a beautiful and luxurious island.
Later this afternoon you return to the harbor of Capri and then on to Naples by hydrofoil.
