This full-day shore excursion from Limassol, about 26 miles (42km) to the first stop, takes you into the traditional villages and mountain scenery of the Troodos range.
After meeting your guide at the port, you drive to Omodos, a wine producing village built around a monastery, where an old wine press known as a linos is open to visitors. Omodos hosts a traditional wine festival each August that draws both locals and tourists.
From Omodos, you continue through Troodos forest to Kykkos Monastery, about 59 miles (95km) from Limassol. Founded in the late 11th century under the Byzantine Empire, Kykkos is the wealthiest and best known monastery on the island, decorated with brightly colored mosaics and housing one of only three icons of the Virgin Mary traditionally attributed to Saint Luke, covered in silver gilt and kept in a shrine of tortoise shell and mother of pearl.
You then travel to Platres, a mountain resort village dating to the late 12th century with a year round population of around 300, where you have free time for lunch. Your final stop is Troodos Square, near the summit of Mount Olympus, the highest point in Cyprus at 6,404 feet (1,952m), where you have free time to take in the views and browse shops selling local crafts and foods. A stop at a traditional coffee shop for Cypriot coffee and homemade fruit preserves is a good way to end the visit.
Afterward, you return to the port in Limassol.
