TOUR DESCRIPTION

La Spezia Shore Excursion

This full day shore La Spezia shore trip visits the stunningly beautiful Cinque Terre. You will travel by vehicle, train and or boat between some of the most charming villages in the world. The Cinque Terre is a bucket list destination for people around the globe.

The Cinque Terre, or Five Lands, is one of Italy's most idyllic seaside cluster of villages. The Cinque Terre is now a National Park that encompasses about 10 miles of the rocky coastline. Within the park are five villages tucked away in small inlets or perched on rocky promontories.

Time has stood still for these five villages; Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Until the last hundred years they were not even accessible by car or train, but only by boat or foot paths. As a result the residents adapted to their natural surroundings. Buildings start at the sea and climb the cliffs towards the sky, and terraced hills have been cultivated with vineyards and olive groves.

After meeting your guide and driving to the Cinque Terre, your first stop is the village of Manarola. You'll enjoy a walk of the enchanting village with its tiny fisherman's wharf. Next you board a boat (weather permitting) or the train and depart for Vernazza.

In Vernazza you have free time to explore the local shops and enjoy lunch (meal not included) as you marvel at this picturesque village huddled around its small harbor.

Later this afternoon you take another boat (or train) to Monterosso al Mare. After a short walk you have free time again to explore. Consider sampling the local lemon liqueur or visiting one of the wine tasting rooms.

After you visit Monterosso you walk to the nearby car park where the vehicle is waiting to take you back to La Spezia.

The Pisa & Lucca excursion was great.  Glad that we went to Pisa first. Our daughter and her family took the ships excursion to Pisa and Florence.  We ran into them in Pisa!  They did not have time to visit any buildings on the Field of Miracles but we did.  Good decision to avoid Florence.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but the holidays make things so crazy. We had the time of our lives. The tours were beyond our expectations. Our guides for both trips were waiting on the pier for us. The Vans were roomy, beautiful and thankfully air conditioned. We were brought into the city centers where the larger tour buses were not allowed due to their size. It was amazing the knowledge of our guides and their English was wonderful. We started with Villefranche, John Luke just seem to know it all. We saw sites of art and John Luke guided us through the history of each as if he were there. Oh and the perfume factory was amazing, of course I could not leave without purchasing some, I wear it and it takes me back to France. We went to a wonderful local restaurant, the food was great and even though there was a line we were seated within moments, thanks to John Luke. Then there was Florence. Our guide Stefano was wonderful. There was so much art, and the history that Stefano gave us was amazing. Stefano took us to a little cafe for lunch where we got a taste of local Italian cuisine which was absolutely delicious. Both our guides spoke English well and were so knowledgeable of the areas we toured. We would have never experienced all that we did without their expertise, and knowledge. I can not thank you enough for the memories you gave us that all of us will cherish forever. I will most certainly contact you for future travel. I also told my family and friends that when they travel abroad they must contact you.
