La Rochelle Shore Excursion

The Poitevin Marsh was once part of the Poitevin Gulf. Over time the waters in this area began to recede. The idea to drain the area and create a network of canals began in the 17th century by the Dutch. The canals remain irrigate due to several rivers which flow through it.

Your first stop is in Coulon, a small traditional village of the Pays de la Loire. Here you will board a flat bottom boat for your visit to this unique area of France. During the one hour boat cruise your guide will use a punt to navigate all while telling your stories of the area.
