Frequently Asked QuestionsWhere does my driver meet me?Near your ship, inside the port. Your vehicle is authorized to enter the restricted port area, so you do not need to find a meeting spot outside the gate. Your driver will be holding a sign with your group name written on it, so you will spot them right away. Which Civitavecchia to Rome transfer do I need?It depends on your itinerary. If you are arriving in Rome and boarding your cruise in Civitavecchia, book Rome Airport to Civitavecchia Port or Rome Hotel to Civitavecchia Port. After your cruise, choose Civitavecchia Port to Rome Hotel if you are staying in Rome, or Civitavecchia Port to Rome Airport if you are flying home. Many clients book both directions at once. Does the vehicle enter the port?Yes. Our vehicles are authorized to enter the restricted port area and drop off or pick up near your ship. Can taxis and rideshares enter the port? Many cannot pass the port gate. They stop at Largo della Pace, the port's mobility center, where passengers take the free port shuttle to the terminal. Which Rome airport do you transfer to?Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO). Transfers to Ciampino Airport require a custom arrangement, so contact us before you book. How far and how long is the drive from Civitavecchia to Rome?About 50 miles (80km). The drive takes roughly 1 to 1.5 hours along the A12 coastal highway and the Grande Raccordo Anulare ring road. Allow closer to the upper end of that range on summer weekends. Transfers between Rome Airport and a Rome hotel take about 30 to 45 minutes. Is there a train from Civitavecchia to Rome?Yes. Regional trains run about every 30 minutes and take roughly 50 to 60 minutes to Roma San Pietro or 75 to 85 minutes to Roma Termini. The train station is not at the cruise terminal. It is about 1 mile (1.5km) from the port's passenger hub at Largo della Pace, so you still need the port shuttle, then a walk, bus or paid shuttle to the station, and the same again in Rome to reach your hotel with luggage. A private transfer skips those extra legs. How much luggage can I bring? One large suitcase and one personal item per person. If you have oversized items, let us know in advance. What if someone in my group has mobility needs?Tell us when you book so we can arrange an appropriate vehicle. What is the back-to-ship guarantee? If a scheduled private transfer is delayed and causes you to miss your ship's departure, we arrange and cover transportation to your next port of call. Your tour must be scheduled to return to the ship 1.5 hours prior to ship departure for the guarantee to apply. How much is the deposit?A $50 deposit per tour secures your booking, and the balance is due closer to your travel date. Explore More Mediterranean Shore Excursions |
