TOUR DESCRIPTION

Heraklion Shore Excursion

This Heraklion shore trip allows you to see some local culture on the island of Crete. You visit a winery in the Peza Valley and then visit Archanes which is considered one of the most picturesque villages on Crete. Its a perfect Crete tour for those not interested in antiquities.

After meeting your guide you drive to the Valley of Peza which sits between the mountain ranges of Dikti and Psiloritis. This valley is the home of the wine-making industry on the island of Crete. While you are in the valley you will stop at a local winery to enjoy a tour and wine tasting.

Next you visit Archanes which is a small village which has been lovingly restored to its original beauty. It has been voted by the European Union to the be named one of the “Best Village Restoration Efforts”. The village is nestled at the base of Yiouchta Mountain, where legend says the god Zeus was buried. While you are in the village you can relax, while experiencing the famous Cretan hospitality and enjoying a light lunch (included) in a traditional Greek taverna.

After visiting Archanes your guide will take you back to Heraklion.

Ken Diaz the Group Reservation Manager of Private Shore Trips organized an amazing set of tourstransportation events for our group of 42 friends and family in MULTIPLE countries! Yes Italy, Greece & Turkey!! Or tour guides provided excellent connections with the entire group and gave a dissertation on the history of each location we visited. We had teachers in our group and they were impressed with the tour guides that says a lot!

Our tour with Kostas started with a seamless pick-up from our ship in Heraklion. First stop Knossos Palace, where Kostas brought Minoan history to life with fascinating stories of King Minos and the Minotaur. The frescoes and ruins were incredible! Next, we drove through the scenic countryside to a local winery, sampling delicious Vilana and Liatiko wines paired with local cheeses and olives. The warm hospitality and stunning views made it unforgettable.
