Glasgow / Greenock, Scotland - This tour is for those who appreciate nature and want to see some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland, if not the world. You enjoy a scenic drive with stunning photo stops on Loch Lomond, the Trossachs National Park and Queen Elizabeth Forest.
After meeting your private guide, you immediately depart for Loch Lomond, which has the largest surface area of any fresh water Loch in the UK. The Loch is 24 miles long and five miles wide and at its deepest point is some 600 feet deep. On the Loch there are approximately 38 Islands, some of them inhabited and some kept natural. The area is renowned for its beauty and tranquility and offers picture postcard views around every corner. You enjoy a stop in Luss for photos and views onto the small islands in the middle of the Loch.
Next you drive from Crianlarich to Kilmahog which goes past the stunning views of Glen Ogle and then Loch Earn. Lots of stories of Clan warfare will be told here, including Clan McNab and McNeish.
For many people, a highlight is getting the chance to see Hamish the Hairy Coo.
Next you enjoy a stop at the Kilmahog Woolen Mill. This old mill dates back to 1758 and includes an original waterwheel which was used during Scotland's heyday in the textile industry. The famous Kilmahog rug was produced here. Today you can enjoy a hot meal and the chance to look at (and or purchase) many fine woolen clothes and souvenirs.
This afternoon you enjoy another scenic drive, this time through the Trossachs National Park and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. The notorious hero outlaw, Rob Roy was from the Trossachs region. Author Walter Scott was so fascinated about his story that he wrote a novel about him which ended up attracting some of the first tourists to Scotland... about 200 years ago!
Later this afternoon you will enjoy a stop in the village of Aberfoyle, which is known as the "heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park". This charming town is located in one of Europe's most beautiful locations!
After a wonderful day of seeing these beautiful natural settings, you return to the pier in Greenock / Glasgow.
