Barcelona Shore Excursion

This Barcelona shore trip is an excellent option if you are a fan of Antoni Gaudi and his iconic architectural style. Gaudi was the greatest local figure of the Art Nouveau movement, known as "Modernism" in the Catalonia region of Spain.

After meeting your licensed guide, you start your discovery of the personal ideals, vision and artistic influences of a true architectural genius.

Your first stop is the Sacred Family Church, the most well-known work of Gaudi and one of Barcelona's most recognized sites. The Nativity facade and the Crypt of the Sagrada Familia were recently declared a "World Heritage Site" by UNESCO. Then you'll drive to Passeig de Gracia, one of the major streets in Barcelona and one of its most important shopping areas. This is the modernist district of the city which saw the flowering of Barcelona's Art Nouveau boom. Along this route you see some of the city's most celebrated pieces of architecture including the Casa Batllo and Casa Mila, both built in the first decade of the 1900's. These turn of the century modernist buildings with their exuberant styles have become one reason that Barcelona is so well known.

Your tour includes a visit to the Casa Batllo. The facade is covered with mosaics, the balconies resemble skulls, the columns look like human bones, and the roof design is one of the most well known of Gaudi's urban buildings. You will appreciate the interior furnishings, glass, sinuous forged iron elements, fireplaces and much more.
