Barcelona Shore Excursion

This Barcelona shore trip visits the beautiful town of Girona which dates back to Roman times but also has visible signs of its Arab occupation. Also included is a visit to the Salvador Dali Museum in Figueres.

After meeting your guide in Barcelona you drive along the coast line until you reach Girona. Girona is a beautiful medieval city full of character. The city is famous for the narrow houses perched at the very edge of the Onyar River and the bridges which span the river are one of the most spectacular sights of Spain.

Upon arrival, you enjoy a walking tour of town which is an exquisite blend of medieval buildings from the Roman and Moorish eras. You will be guided through the steep narrow streets which lead from Girona's Roman city walls to the oldest quarter of the city where you will find many churches, museums and cathedrals. A highlight of the Girona walking tour is the Jewish Quarter that housed the Jewish community in Girona during medieval times. While you are on the walking tour, you visit the Arab Baths and the main Cathedral.

At the end of the walking tour, you have free time for lunch (meal not included).

Not far from Girona is Figueres, home town of the eccentric but brilliant Salvador Dali. In Figueres you will visit the Dali Museum, which houses many of the unconventional master's works.

The Museum was designed by Dali himself and even the building is a work of art. Inaugurated in 1974, the Dali Theater-Museum was built upon the remains of the former Figueres theater. It contains the broadest range of works spanning the artistic career of Salvador Dali (1904-1989), from his earliest artistic experiences and his surrealist creations down to the works of the last years of his life. The different collections include all kinds of works of art: painting, drawing, sculpture, engraving, installation, hologram, stereoscopy, photography.
