This Dubai tour samples the historic sites and vibrant cosmopolitan life of Dubai. You will see the famous Burj al Arab, the Jumeirah Mosque, the Spice and Gold Markets plus a visit to the Dubai Museum.
After meeting your guide at the pier, you immediately embark on a driving tour of Dubai with photo stops at the major sites. First stop is the famous landmark Burj Al Arab, an ultra luxury hotel which sits on a man-made island off Jumeirah beach. The structure's shape mimics the sail of a ship and has quickly become a symbol of Dubai.
Next you drive along the coastal residential area of Dubai known as Jumeirah. This area has been considered one of the most exclusive parts of the city in recent years. You will stop for photos at the beautiful Jumeirah Mosque.
You continue on to Al Bastakiya, the old part of Dubai, to reach the Dubai Museum which is located in the 210-year old Al Fahidi Fort. At the museum you will learn about the history and cultural heritage of Dubai. The museum focuses on life in Dubai prior to the discovery of oil (and wealth).
Next you board an Abra (water taxi) to cross the Dubai Creek. This shallow saltwater creek divides the city and leads to an inland wildlife sanctuary.
Next you walk through the famous Spice Souk (market) to see and smell exotic spices which are used in Arabic and South Asian cuisines. In addition to spices, you also see incense, textile and rug vendors. You end the day at the most famous landmark in Dubai, the Gold Souk (market). This traditional market has over 300 vendors which primarily sell gold jewelry. Even if you are not up for shopping, your eyes will be amazed at the amount of "bling" on display.
Mobility: Folding wheelchair OK, without Abra ride (advance notice required)
