TOUR DESCRIPTION

Cannes Shore Excursion

This eight hour Cannes shore trip visits the most popular stops in the Riviera with a relaxed pace and some free time built into the itinerary.

After meeting your driver guide at the pier in Cannes, you immediately depart for Nice, where you'll drive along La Promenade des Anglais, the street that runs along the most famous beach in the Riviera. You will have a chance to walk through the famous flower market (closed Mondays when flea market takes place) in the old town before stopping on Castle Hill, where the Greeks first arrived and where you can admire a beautiful view over the beach, the old town and the port of Nice.

Leaving Nice you follow the Lower Corniche which hugs the dramatic rocky coast line to the unforgettable Principality of Monaco. Your first stop is the old town of Monaco. If you are here at noon, you'll have a chance to see the changing of the guards in front of the royal palace. A must for many people is the Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried.

Next you'll follow the path of the legendary Grand Prix of Monte-Carlo Formula 1 circuit. A stop in the modern city of Monte Carlo allows you to experience the unbelievable luxury of this unique place! You will have time to see designer shops, luxury hotels and the famous Casino and gardens.

You have free time in either Monaco or Monte Carlo so you can enjoy lunch (meal not included).

Later today you stop in Eze where you'll visit a typical French medieval village made up of narrow lanes and stone buildings. Eze clings to the cliffs over 1000 feet above the sea. Walk to the top of the city's hill where a garden setting view point overlooks the sea. Take time to peak into the boutiques or enjoy an ice cream with a million dollar view. If you are not up to walking, you can enjoy the scents of Provence at the adjacent Fragonard perfume factory.

You'll return to Cannes along the Upper Corniche, the road which runs along the cliff tops high above the sea. When you get back into Cannes you'll drive up the step streets to the "suquet", the heart of the old town, where you have views over the whole city. You'll also stop so you can stroll the beautiful Croisette Boulevard, lined with 5 Stars hotels, designer boutiques and the Cannes Film Festival Palace which gives Cannes its renowned "Hollywood" atmosphere.

At the end of your private tour, the driver guide will bring you back to the port.

Notes on the Casino - The Casino of Monte Carlo is open to tourists for viewing from 9 AM until 12 noon. During this period the entry fee is 10 Euro per person (cash only) and no gaming is open. Then from 2 PM onwards the casino is open to individuals (not tour groups) and formal dress code is enforced. During this period there is no entry fee to access slots, craps and Black Jack tables. Further gaming rooms require 10 Euro per person entry fee (cash only). Everyone must be 18 years or older and have their passport available.

Mobility: Folding wheelchair OK, some sites may be inaccessible (advance notice required)

Travel Tips for our Clients
For centuries Cannes was a small fishing village with a tower on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. That all changed when Lord Henry Brougham arrived here in 1834 to escape the cool wet English winters. He liked the surrounding area so much that he bought land and started developing it. Over the next half a century, Cannes became the winter getaway for much of Britain's royalty, including King Edward VII.

Today Cannes is still a hot spot for the rich and famous. Most notably is the famous Cannes Film Festival which takes place for two weeks each May and brings 70,000 extra visitors to the city. People come in the winter to avoid harsh winters in the north, but the true season is from mid-July until the end of August, when Europeans take vacations and head to the coast.
If you cannot find what you are looking for, our Cannes shore excursions can also be customized to fit your needs. If you have a larger group, we can offer you a private Cannes tour using a mid-size bus or full size coach. Please contact us with any questions or to receive a customized quote.
