Warnemunde / Rostock (12-Hour Tour)
Best of Berlin Tour

This full day Warnemunde shore trip is the best tour for first time visitors to Berlin who want to discover this fascinating city. You not only see all the major monuments but you to do so in a casual way that suits your interests. You have the time to discover Berlin's historical heritage and also present day Berlin.

This tour will show you Berlin as a little medieval town in the former East Germany, the up-and-coming city of the Prussian Empire, the bustling and cosmopolitan capital of the Weimar Republic, the headquarter of the Nazi War & Killing Machinery, the centerpiece of the Cold War and the capital of a peaceful, reunited Germany today.

Your personal driver will meet you at the pier and brings you to Berlin, where your private guide is waiting for you. Please feel very free to let your guide know all your interests & wishes at the beginning of your tour. The guides are local experts in things such as history and architecture and they have many years of experience in guiding. Most importantly, they have a passion for Berlin!

During the tour you will visit the various different parts of Berlin including the West, Mitte and East. Your exploration will take you to the major highlights, such as Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Holocaust Memorial, former Place of Hitlers Bunker, Checkpoint Charlie, Potsdamer Platz, Unter den Linden, Friedrichstrasse, Alexanderplatz, Karl-Marx Allee, Bernauer Strasse and many more places in between.

There are plenty of options for lunch, depending on your wishes. Would you like to taste some classics of German cuisine? You have the choice to relax and indulge in a hearty Bavarian pork knuckle or taste some delicious sandwiches with typical German sourdough bread. Or do you prefer a quick snack in a beer garden during the summer? Your guide knows the best places for every taste, just let them know your wishes.

At the end of the day you are brought back to the pier in Warnemunde / Rostock.

Tallinn
(4-Hour Tour)
The Old Town of Tallinn

This Tallinn shore trip is best for those who want to focus their time on the Old Town of Tallinn. You enjoy an in-depth, yet leisurely, walking tour of one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe. An interior visit to the Dome Church and some free time are included.

Your guide will meet you at the pier and you'll drive around the ancient city walls to the Upper Old Town of Tallinn, where your private walking tour begins. Vanalinn, as the Old Town of Tallinn is known, is one of the best preserved medieval cities in all of Europe, and your guide will introduce you to the fascinating mix of German, Scandinavian and Russian influences evident here.

You'll walk along cobblestone streets in the shadow of the looming Toompea Castle, which was originally built in the 13th century. You'll see the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky with its priceless collection of icons which has dominated Lossi Plats (Palace Square) since its construction in 1900.

From Palace Square you'll continue to the Gothic St. Mary's Cathedral, known by locals as the Toomkirik or Dome Church. This is the main Lutheran church in Estonia and was traditionally the church of Estonia's elite German nobles. The striking interior is known for its many funereal coats of arms dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries and burial stones from the 13th to the 18th centuries. For those interested in panoramic views, you can climb the steps of the bell tower for amazing views of the city. Please note that your guide will not be able to guide you through the Dome Church if religious services are in progress (generally Sunday mornings and at noon daily).

As you walk into the Lower Town, you enjoy the panoramic a view of towers and steeples rising above the red-tiled roofs, and have the chance to browse through local shops. You'll see the Holy Ghost Church, a structure which retains much of its 14th century appearance, and also stop to admire Tallinn's oldest civic building the Gothic Town Hall completed in 1404.

Finally, you'll visit the famous Katariina Gild street, the most picturesque lane in the Old Town. You enjoy a short amount of free time to explore a collection of craft workshops where artists use traditional methods to create and sell local crafts. Expect to see glassware, quilts, ceramics, jewelery and other hand made goods. These craft workshops are located in the small 15th to 17th houses so that visitors can see the artists working. Its a wonderful Medieval atmosphere not found in many places today.

At the end of the tour you are brought back to the pier.

St Petersburg
(18-Hour Tour over Two Days)
Two Day Best of St Petersburg Tour

This best of St. Petersburg shore trip includes two full day (nine hour) tours, for those cruises which are in port overnight. This allows you to see the top sights in St. Petersburg plus the Hermitage Museum, Peterhof with the Grand Palace and Catherine's Palace.

Day 1- St. Petersburg Highlights & Peterhof with the Grand Palace
After passing through customs at the port you meet your private licensed guide and your day begins with a city driving tour which includes photo stops at major attractions. During the tour you see the Square of Arts, the Russian Museum, the Cathedral of Our Savior on Spilled Blood, Griboedov Canal, Nevsky Prospect, the Palace Square, the Winter Palace, the spit of the Basil Island, the Menshikov Palace, the Senate Square, the Bronze Horseman, St. Isaac's Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress, the Palace Embankment, the Field of Mars, the Summer Garden and Smolny Cathedral.

Following the city tour is a lunch break (meal not included).

Next you depart the city for the famous Peterhof including the Grand Palace and the Lower Park with it's fountains. Built to rival France's palace at Versailles, you are sure to be impressed.

Peterhof is St. Petersburg's most famous and spectacular estate, a jewel of Russian art. This town of parks, palaces and fountains was called Petrodvorets in the past. The Grand Palace was built by Peter the Great and became the exquisite summer residence of the Russian tzars. The location on the shore of the Baltic Sea made it an ideal place in the warm summer months. From the Great Palace three monumental cascading fountains lead to the Lower Park, a real masterpiece in itself, with 173 fountains on its grounds.

Day 2- Pushkin with Catherine's Palace and Hermitage Museum
Your second day begins with a tour of the Imperial estate at Pushkin, including the famous Amber Room. The Palace and Parks of Tsarskoye Selo (known as Pushkin) are a former country residence of the Russian emperors and a fascinating monument of the world's architectural and gardening arts of the 18th and 19th centuries.

The three parks occupy an area of almost 1,500 acres where you find over 100 architectural wonders ranging from magnificent palaces and grand monuments to intimate pavilions and park sculptures. The center of which is Catherine's Palace, named after the second wife of Peter the Great. This blue, white and gold palace contains exquisite decorative objects, furniture, Russian and Western European paintings, unique collections of porcelain, amber, arms, decorative bronze and sculptures. In all the collection of the Tsarskoye Selo museum has about 20,000 items. Your tour includes a visit to the unique Amber Room whose amber panels where stolen by the Nazis in WWII but have now been rebuilt.

*SPECIAL NOTE: Due to over-tourism Catherine’s Palace has reduced the number of people who will be allowed to enter the site each. We will inform you approximately 2 weeks prior to your visit if your group will be able to enter the Palace. If you are not able to enter, we will substitute with a visit to the Parks of Catherine’s Palace and also the Palace of Pavlovsk.

Following your tour at Pushkin is a break for lunch (meal not included).

After lunch you drive into St. Petersburg to visit the State Hermitage Museum. This massive museum is located in six historical buildings of St. Petersburg. The buildings themselves are architectural beauties and many think the most impressive part of the museum. These buildings include the Winter Palace, which is the former residence of the Russian emperors, the Small Hermitage, The Old Hermitage, the New Hermitage, the Hermitage Theater and the General Staff Building.

The Winter Palace was erected between 1754 and 1762 for Empress Elisabeth, the daughter of Peter the Great. It is the largest edifice built in the high Baroque style.

The Small Hermitage was constructed between 1764 and 1767 and the Old Hermitage between 1771 and 1787. These buildings were meant to be used by Empress Catherine the Great for her own apartments and for her personal collections of art which she purchased in Europe.

The New Hermitage was built between 1839 and 1852 and became the first building in Russia designed to contain and exhibit museum collections.

The collections of the Hermitage includes over 3 million items from prehistoric to modern times. Magnificent works of art embracing prehistoric culture, Egyptian art, the art of Antiquity, Scythian gold, and great collections of Western European sculptures and paintings (Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Raphael, Rembrandt, Poussain, Manet, Renoir and others) are displayed in the 400 halls of the museum. Luckily, with your private guide you will see the most important pieces.

Special Note- Your cruise line may tell you that you must purchase an expensive Russian tourist visa to get off the ship if you are not taking their big bus tour. This is not true. The visa they refer to is only for passengers who plan to go ashore unaccompanied by an authorized guide. With the Visa-Free Entry Voucher our partners in Russia provide, you are required to depart and return to the port with the tour we have organized for you. You do not have the option to stay in St. Petersburg and return to the ship on your own. Visa-Free Entry Vouchers are sometimes called a "blanket visa".

Helsinki

Highlights of Helsinki

This Helsinki shore trip provides a glimpse into Helsinki's past and present. You enjoy a driving tour with photo stops at the city's icons, plus you visit the popular Temppeliaukio Rock Church and the Sibelius Monument.

After meeting your licensed guide you immediately begin your driving tour of Helsinki, which is a rather modern city becuase it was largely rebuilt after a terrible fire in 1808. The city also prides iteself on its parks and open spaces which make up nearly one third of the city.

Driving along the sea front you see the famous Market Square where vendors sell fresh fish, flowers, vegetables and more.

In the heart of the city you have a photo stop at Senate Square which is lined with several Neoclassical buildings including the Presidential Palace, Helsinki University and Helsinki Cathedral. In the center of the square is a statue of Alexander II, the Czar of Russia and Grand Duke of Finland.

On Mannerheim Street, Helsinki's main street, you see the National Museum and Finlandia Hall, designed by the famous architect Alvar Aalto, amd the Opera House. Another impressive sights is the Parliament building which has a facade that includes 14 Corinthian columns.

Next you visit one the Helsinki's most popular sites, the Temppeliaukio Rock Church, which is considered one of Europe's most unique churches. It is carved out of solid rock in the side of the mountain and topped by a copper dome.

Before you tour is complete you also enjoy a stop at another of Helsinki's popular landmarks, the Sibelius Monument. This monument, located in a Sibelius Park, resembles a giant pipe organ and honors the famed Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.
