TOUR DESCRIPTION

Yangon Shore Excursion

This Yangon shore trip is similar to the original Highlights tour. Some of the same sites are visited but then some alternatives are included so you can choose which is more important for your time in Yangon.

Your driver and Licensed English-speaking guide will pick you up at your ship inside the Yangon pier.

The first stop is at the Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda. This huge reclining Buddha is located in the most well-known Buddhist temple in Bahan Township. The reclining Buddha is amazing and there are fantastic vantage points throughout the building that allow unique perspectives on the shapes and colors of his pigmentation and other qualities.

Next, you visit the Kaba Aye or World Peace Pagoda which was built in 1952 in preparation for the Sixth Buddhist Council. Also located in the same complex is the Maha Pasana Guha (great cave).

Then you continue to the riverside to see visit the 125 foot high Botataung Pagoda. This pagoda was built about 2,500 years ago by the Mon people. It was destroyed by an air bombing mission during WWII buy rebuilding started in 1948, bringing it back to its original design.

Your guide will recommend a break at a local teashop to enjoy Burmese food and tea (meal not included) in the typical atmosphere.

Next you visit the Bogyoke Aung San Market (formerly Scott’s market) and have the chance to do some shopping (closed Mondays and public holidays). There are hundreds of stalls offering food, clothes, handicrafts, gems stores and much more.

You finish your day the Karawait Palace and Kandawgyi (Royal Lake) park. This is one of the most recognizable sites in Myanmar and is used for cultural events, arts and crafts shows, live performances and more.

After the tour, you will be brought back to your ship at the Yangon pier.

Myanmar Entry Visa- It is required to have a Myanmar Entry Visa to get off your ship in Myanmar. You should work directly with your cruise line to obtain the needed paperwork. Refunds are not provided for those who do not obtain an entry visa to exit their ship.
