Salalah Shore Excursion - This half day tour includes impressive views of the unspoiled strand of white beach none as Mughsayl. Another highlight is visit to the Tomb of Job, the biblical hero. You also see and learn about the Frankincense trees and visit a local market.
After meeting your guide at the pier in Salalah, you immediately depart for Mughsayl Beach. During the drive you stop at a small clump of Frankincense trees, that produce a resin that was once valued as highly as gold and traded the length and breadth of Arabia as well as throughout the Mediterranean. Expensive and rare, it was also one of the gifts brought to the baby Jesus!
Next you have a chance to see the impressive Mughsayl Beach. This unspoiled strand of white beach with high cliffs at both ends offers wonderful views. If your arrival coincides with the high tides, you may be lucky enough to view the beach's spectacular blowholes.
Next you will drive through the picturesque Qara mountains to the Tomb of Job, the biblical hero admired by Muslims, Jews and Christians worldwide. Visit this simple tomb, located on a hilltop overlooking Salalah, and see what locals believe to be the footprint of Job himself, pressed into the concrete floor.
Next you enjoy a photo stop at the Al Hosn Palace, the residence of Sultan Qaboos when visiting Dhofar. Continue on to the vibrant Al Husn Market. Stroll among the colorful stalls heaped with mounds of frankincense, myrrh, oils and artifacts. In local markets it is expected that you bargain for the best price.
After exploring the delightful wonders of the Souq, you will return to the ship.
