This half day tour is an excellent option if you are interested in Greek history and art, but only have a half day available in Thessaloniki. You'll depart the pier and immediately drive to Vergina, also known as ancient Aegae,the first capital of ancient Macedonia.
Today the small village is world renowned because of the discovery of the Royal Tombs of Macedonian Kings. Your private guided tour includes a visit to the palace ruins believed to be the home of King Philip II and his son Alexander the Great.
The highlight is a visit to the newly completed exhibition of the Royal Tombs including treasures found in them. Your guide will show you the tomb of Phillip II and interpret what you are seeing in a way that will make the ancient seem new again. You'll feast your eyes on masterpieces of ancient Greek art dating back to the 4th century B.C.
After your tour you'll have 30 minutes free time before driving back to the pier in Thessaloniki.
